Hello all, just wondering if anyone can help me. Im trying in vain to pop and rotate my board to intiate a vulcan. I can chop hop no problem but when i try to move the mast around i end up stalling, i just cant seem to intiate the turn. Been out all day today on a 5.9excess sail( fully powered up ) and a 100ltr freestyle board trying this and god dam push tacks; any advice.

hey dude, i saw you go for some today (i assume you were going for vulcans cause they looked a bit unco for just chop hops hehe), you need to get your body more forward and over the top of the board. when you were jumping you had your body over the back of your board, and the nose of the board was ending up like a meter in the air. also release the sail with your back hand, otherwise it will prevent you from rotating.
the article on the guycribb website does a pretty good job of covering the difference between chop hops (what you were doing) and popping (what you need to do).
also as i can't as yet vulcan take my advice with a grain of salt, but i've probably seen enough of them to kinda pick out what you were doing wrong.

Cheers bud, I kept watching the other guy who could pop and rotate and noticed he headed off the wind before hitting the chop. Just hope i can get out on the water again soon to try again. All in all though great days sailing and good to see so many people out on the water

For a while I read "rotate and pop", which is what happens to me shoulders often...

Don't bear away.
It's all in the arms, not the jump.
As you pop, extend you front arm as far as you can and then as (at the exact same moment) the fin comes out of the water concentrate your entire being on whipping the rig back across yourself...
The only thing you should be thinking about is getting your hands on the far side of the boom... it's all in the hands.
