Question for the wavesailors out there- which rdm do you prefer 100% or 75%, which are you finding more durable (someone suggested on here a while ago something about 100's lasting better). Anyone that has used both notice any difference between them?
How are the bigger sailors finding them- are they giving as much range with the sails (slalom or wave).

although i haven't spent much time in the surf over the last year and a half, i really like my 430cm powerex 90% skinny. I'm not sure it is the ideal mast for my sails but all I'm really interested in is getting planing early and it seems to do that with my 5.6 combat. I really think it has given the sail more low end than it would have with the recommended mast, but detracted from it's high wind performance. However, the mast works really well with the 4.7 voodo i have, regardless of wind strength.
Anyway, it seems to survive the many virtual pole vaults i do during my loop attempts when the mast doesn't clear the water completely, it feels great in the hands when holding it, and you can poke it up the sleeve in a flash.
cheers

Over the past few years i have probably supported a small factory in china by breaking masts, since i got a couple of skinny ones no breakages, great rotation, and a smooth entry into the wind(less resistance i guess)I think the extra little weight is worth the compromise....dont forget you will need a new extension base also!(expence)

I have both a 100% carbon and a 75% 400 that i use on zone sails i can not tell the difference between the 2 they both work well and i have given them a flogging for two years now in the surf and there still in one piece The best thing i ever did was to buy a skinny

Mark,
Was 'forced' into buying a RDM to rig my stealth - 90%.
I have now used it to rig my Ezzy infinity 5.7. On a 430 nstd - this sail rigged like a dog and had an absolutely crap range.
On an RDM the sail rigs beautifully. Is has a range from about 17-35 knots (and I'm about your weight) - this is awesome - it is very tunable in both downhaul and outhaul. - really nice. The difference in sail tuning is 100% due to the use of the RDM - which give enhanced low wind performance and better high wind performance - A lot of sails become very 'twitchy' in high wind with lots of downhaul & outhaul - with the RDM this is not the case.
I'm a definite convert. BTW the Naish Stealth's, esp the 5.0, look awesome when rigged on an RDM.
