I have just spoken to Paul from Channel nine he was the reporter/producer for the coverage that went to Air on Chanel Nine on Saturday and Sunday nights. He told me they will also run a story on Win TV this week which is great.
He said if the news rooms receive good feedback on the stories it will really help the cause for them to give the event even more coverage next year. Perhaps we could even get a 30 minute show on it.
If you did see the coverage you could help this cause greatly in 2 ways
1. Phone Channel Nine on 94499999 (Switch Board) then ask for the news department. Tell them you watched the coverage and loved it.
2. Leave some good feedback on this thread.
Phoning Channel Nine is the best way and should only take a couple of minutes and is a great way to help the event and industry.
Thanks for helping out as it will mean we can make the event even bigger next year.
I haven't seen the footage but I am dying to do so. Is there any way that we can get Channel Nine to release some more in some way? I think I can safely speak for most of the windsurfing community in saying that watching a video of the whole race would be awesome.
Seeing how those guys at the front go so damned quick would be cool, but so would watching the rest of the mere mortals, and all the big stacks at the mark roundings etc.
Paul said we could arrange to get some of the coverage, I will meet with him late this week early next week so will see what I can arrange.
Maybe if you have not seen it yet you could still phone and say "you heard it was great footage etc and would love to see more of it in the futute etc etc"
I recorded the news piece last night and with the assistance of a fellow brother sailor who has superior technical skills, will attempt to get it up on the web tomorrow. the news piece was good but the entire footage, particularly from the chopper must be sensational !!
Phone or email them, tell them how good the story was- it's the only way to get them back for next year. Also, if it wasn't for Heliwest there wouldn't have been any of that great coverage.
Instead of uploading the footage and breaching copyright, ask them to post the footage on Nine MSN. It would be good to have it there and then they can measure the hits it receives, plus giving a wider audience to view what sounds like a great race.
I just spoke with Paul from Channel 9 and he is sending me the footage that was on the news on a DVD, I should have it late this week as soon as I have it Laurie will put it up for all to see. Thanks heaps for everyone that has phoned 9 with feedback it has been good and they are stoked. However as always there can't be to many calls. So if you haven't phoned 9 already why not give it a go this arvo, even if its just to say thanks for showing some windsurfing.
