Thinking about getting a decent Reflex III racing sail for the 2012 season. The point where I'm not totally clear is if I should adopt for the 9.2 or 9.6.
I (180cm@80kg, with the target to get 85kg) participate in the Japanese racing circuit where the wind limit is 7 knots. My existing biggest equipment is 8.6 Vapor 2011 (wanted to keep it for 2012) together with a Starboard iSonic 127 2012 and Hurricane Fins up to 47cm.
Now what do you do recon would be the best option for me? It does look like the 9.6 to me but I'm not sure if the 9.2 would be good as well. Actually, I wonder why Severne has the 9.2 in the line-up. It seems to be soo close to the 8.6 is it made for lighter winds? Or would a combination of the 9.2 with the 7.8 as the next smaller size work out?
Thanks for all your replies! So it should be the 9.6 then. Does anyone have already experience with the setting? That I'll have to get an Enigma mast is clear and I will do that, still I'm looking forward to test rig it with my Gaastra mast. How about an extender versus a standard extension? ==> We test rigged a Vapor 7.1 from 2012 yesterday and found that using a carbon extender the bottom of the sail has a deeper profile and also the cam rotation appeared to be better. BUT we haven't had a chance to test the sail on the water.
So what about the Reflex III 9.6 on a 490cm Enigma mast with or without extender? Any insight? Maybe Mr. Severne himself could enlighten me a bit, please ;-)
