I have a slight stone chip about half a finger nail in area and about 1mm deep. What material could be used to repair the skin? I am thinking maybe Epifill.

If it's just gelcoat damage, use epifil. It's easy and sands down well.

JP747 - you'll need to cut out all the delam or you could try to inject epoxy resin or expanding foam (epoxy safe). If it's only palm sized i'd cut out and re-glass..

You can just use syringes - but making sure you have holes for it to expand out of on the other side of the damage (so you don't make it worse!).

Shouldn't be too tricky and if it binds well it would be lot quicker.

some sort of gelcoat repair stuff, got this 2 part epoxy putty i use for this sort of thing, sands excellent..cant remember who made it right now, go to a fiberglass suppliers and they will sort your out...

Mistral Nick - gelcoat filler, epoxy filler, or (and only if you're 110% sure it hasn't penetrated to the core - 1mm sounds dangerously deep) you could go the really cheap route and use baking soda, and thin Cyano Acrylate (superglue) to fill it.

JP747 - your trouble sounds a lot more major than Nick's chip..

If it's delam'd inside, and cracked on the outside then gelcoat filler will last as long as it takes for you to step on that part again..

If you have a crack through the skin, you'll need to cut it away and glass it, but if it's just soft, you can get away with filling the injection holes.
