Mistral Nick - gelcoat filler, epoxy filler, or (and only if you're 110% sure it hasn't penetrated to the core - 1mm sounds dangerously deep) you could go the really cheap route and use baking soda, and thin Cyano Acrylate (superglue) to fill it.
JP747 - your trouble sounds a lot more major than Nick's chip..
If it's delam'd inside, and cracked on the outside then gelcoat filler will last as long as it takes for you to step on that part again..
Injecting with Urethane foam, and then filling or glassing over will fix it. Check out the earlier thread on this..
