Hi Dr. Rock, I was at Safety Bay yesterday arvo - wind wasnt so good; maybe 10 knots if lucky and came in late @ 4pm - I decided to go out and have a play anyway. From memory I think there was a bit out there. When you do have a weed fin because it isnt concerning you you seem to pay attention less. Before my current weed fin of several weeks - I used to sail there with a pointer through necessity, and sometimes would get away with it, and on other days, dragging up clumps of the stuff - with very negative results on my planing!! Sailed there, once a week ago with a 21cm wave fin. the weed was a problem. Its very light weed and just gathers as you are going along. it feels and looks ok, and certainly doesn't smell. I would say deinately have a weed fin if you want to sail safety bay often.
or even better, buy the weed fin Ive been trying to sell for ages!
i used to sail SB a lot, and definitely needed a weed fin. I dont go there much any more - went there couple of weekends ago, and the weed was a shocker, sailing with a large salad wrapped round your fin the whole time aint fun.
Is it sailable without a weed fin
