I have a problem with the adjustable head of a Naish Hokua sail

It slips when under tension so my downhaul is effectively eased off when out on the water. This isn't doing my sailing any favours

I was thinking of sewing the offending webbing strap together to prevent this happening

Any ideas what thread I should use? I'm assuming cotton would rot through pretty quickly.

cheers,
Ben

you need to use a sailmakers nylon thread ( or any heavy duty nylon thread i suppose.). you will prolly need a pretty hardcore needle and a palm (but could use pliers instead). a few rows of a basic handstich should be more than adequate for what you r doing i should think.
have u tried folding the strap back throught the fitting at the top to increase the friction or even tieing a knot in the strap??
i may have some sailmakers thread at home but wouldnt be able to find it till the weekend. let me know if u want some.

easiest thing to do. Tie a halfhitch (or two) with the loose end, pull it tight till it come up the the head bit. Works for me fine. No sailmakers, no worried and NO MONEY

If you are near rockingham, I have an old singer that can literally sew through plywood. I don't mind spending a few free minutes on it :)
