Some different opinions on this expected but, is it best to store them flat on a shelf or floor , or stood up against the wall on the luff end ?

i couldn't imagine either beiging an issue if they're not being squashed in any way, though i don't think i'd store them standing up with the leech at the bottom that could get crushed by the weight by standing on end over a long period of time

Neither - upended against the wall standing on the leech end so you don't make the luff tube go soft which reduces resale value (as it looks more used than it really is)

But I'm sure it really does not matter.........

According to Neil pryde warranty book sails should be stored tightly rolled, in the bag, flat on the floor, if they must be stood up only stand on the luff end.

There I answered my own question ... With what was the probable answer.

I also discovered that NP masts are only covered by warranty if used with NP booms and extensions. Is that the same for all gear? i.e. Warranty only valid if used with manufacturers own products?

In would suggest they can say that by the ACCC via the TPA would have a differing opinion.

Please cut and paste the section specifying this. I can't find it on the NP website, Warranty tab (at bottom of main page).

It's in the warranty book that comes with the all Neil pryde accessories. More specifically ... Items 7 and 11 of page 8 in the booklet "warning, limited warranty & product care information" that was supplied with my 2011 H2 sails or my 2011 X6 mast.

I would love to see that tested!!

Pryde are full of ****. It's why they have the same logo as Target.

Make the luff tube go soft...what? I've never seen a sail where the luff tube isn't soft...it is after all like that for a reason. Logic would dictate that if you are going to store your sail vertically you want to store it so the load is most evenly distributed, this means sitting the luff on the floor as it rolls quite uniformly. Conversely if you stand it on the leech end it's more than likely standing simply on the very clew of the sail, poor load distribution and not really a part of the sail you want to bend.

Other than that I can't see how standing it or lying it would make any difference. I always stand the sail i've just used in the garage so all the water runs out of it gravity stylez, then back in the rack it goes.
