I'm visiting family in Brisbane for a week in May or June. Is it worth taking my gear up? What conditions could I expect. (Winds & water temperature). What are the good locations near Manly/Wynnum?

Thanks,
Harrow.

Harrow,

May and June are not particularly windy months. If you are lucky we may get a Southerly change or ridge system. May is Better than June.

Water temp is still fine 20+ - Wet suit advisable. I wear a spring suit in Apr/May and change to a full steamer for Jun-August (But I'm now a big soft qlder)

See www.wind-surf.com.au for a good description of where to sail, with Manly and Wello being highly recommended spots to sail.

Hi, I live in Wynnum and sail at Manly when conditions are good. In May/June you can start to expect gusty southwesterlys and they are cold. The latest I have sailed here is late April. If you don't mind the cold, the best place to sail would be the western side of Wellington point, in winter. As for water tempreture it is probably ok if you arn't a wuss with the cold like me.

May and June are normally our quietest months.
But anything's possible SE seem to be coming late this year.
