Can anyone tell me what the best all round board size would be for sailing at Botany? Have just moved to Sydney and found out that the best wind is down there and am thinking of getting a board that will get me max time on the water. As the season has been bad in Sydney I'm thinking of going over 100 litres to get me planing in lighter winds . I'm 70kg in weight - Any ideas before I buy?

It depends on your skill level and the sail size/type you have. Between 90-100 litres. Most of the modern freerides plane quite early and even the 90litre boards will handle a 6.5m. With your weight you shouldn't need anything over 100L providing you are a reasonably experienced sailor, ie. good pumping technique and efficient planing stance.
I use my 90L slalom board with sails 5.8-7.8m. If the wind is below 15k and marginal I'll go to a 111L slalom....I've porked out to about 93kg.
I'd suggest you visit WSS and organise a demo, that's the best way determine the best size.

Thanks for the advice - think a demo is way forward and will pop into WSS to organise one. Was thinking of more of a 100 litresish slalom board but will look between 90 - 105L as an alrounder. Just hope we eventually get some wind in Botany...
