Has anyone used this - is there really any benefit on sailboards and surfboards. I'm mainly going to be sailing around Dutchies and Lancelin etc and wondering if there is any point to putting one of these decals on. www.sharkcamo.com.au/ I also saw the shark shield device - seems too cumbersome and would interfere too much with sailing. Am I just being a wusss even looking at these things - its just a very slight chance that anything would ever happen.

Cheers

I think this is a pretty interesting idea.

I dunno about the wuss bit, if it helps with peace of mind and there is actual proof that it works, or least shows a level of effectiveness which builds confidence (Possibly like a dutch courage), who knows, it may enable you to pull off tripple backies coz ya got no worries

Looks plausable (Thank goodness for Myth busters, other wise I would never have used that word)

Just make sure you dont land upside down

Thats my opinion anyway.

can you wrap it on your feet and legs? haha

i think it would be more effective for surfing seeing as your sitting on your board stationary...

they also do a full camo suit in the design, so on your next trip to Africa you can mix in with the Zebras. Hmmm do the Bull sharks in WA migrate with South Africa (the white sharks do) - they'd be used to the odd zebra carcass.

How about painting a nice, juicy steak on the bottom of all kiteboards? As a diversion?

You're being a wuss and I doubt it will work too well with a 5m bitey.

Since painting yellow and black tiger stripes on the bottom of my board, I have been totally shark-attack free!

I recently saw a small brown shark swimming away from me; was he repelled by the stripes or was it the fact that mt board was 10 times bigger than him?

Probably wouldnt work on Bull sharks, apparently they have real bad eyesight and hunt in murky waters alot of the time

From the website:
"The patented, striped "fingerprint" pattern mimics the colouration of a number of fish which are not prey for sharks."

I've seen a Tiger shark attack a floating lump of seaweed. Last I heard, seaweed was not on the list of prey for sharks.

I think sometimes sharks just attack things for no particular reason. I highly doubt that stripes or whatever on the bottom of your board are going to "repel" sharks.

IMO those stickers will just act as a marker that identifies kooks.
