Smiths Lake is ok in a south easterly but that's about it. Otherwise head to Wallis Lake just 10 mins away for NE through to SW. There are a few of launching spots there, some hard to describe. Look for the sailing club on a map - that's as good a place as any.
You'll need a weed fin but it's great flatwater blasting with long, long runs. Chances are others will be out with you.
