Snapper, good to see you are into a great sport.
Hardie wise,? yep probably one of the more learned ones about. Elder? nar, still young gun, who has a liking to snuggle up to channel markers. (oops hardie sorry I know it was only one just the one.........)
Me, well I am probably only half of breakfast in front of you, only reason I faff about here on forums is "
1 no wind, an wonder what the rest of Aus’s windsurfers are doing/saying.
2 cant resist checking up on the latest antics of Hardie n Elmo (the later is doing his utmost to convince us all he is suffering from his latest prang with his blathering on general forums)These two fine chaps are well into the speed stuff and report back to us mortals on the happenings of their latest runs, usually pulln the piss out of one another’s exploits
3 stuck cos am off water with injury.
4 trying to get to the next star level

Dave, what kind of sailing you do mostly. I mainly sail at Boggy Lake and Goolwa so all flat water stuff. I'm one of the young new guys on the forum so it won't be long till i'm like hardie and elmo. (not exactly looking forward to it. Only good thing is school doesn't get in your way.) Have you ever sailed at Boggy Lake?

thanks Hardie Elmo and Bubs for your replies i would love to hear about the canary islands hardie what type of sailing do you do and the best time of year etc elmo where do you sail? Bubs i have two boards that i use a 90 l fanatic wave board and a 115l f2 eliminator freestyle.I also have a old epoxy windforce slalom board that still is a great board i just dont use it that much.My sails are gastra poisons 4.2 ,4.7 ,5, 5.3and 6 meter (echo).I had a sail this afternoon at sellicks on my big board and 5 mt but got blown out of the water it filled in to 4mt conditions and unfortunatly i had to go to work so i didnt change down. The cool change was welcome after the 40 degree days we just had.The other guys that were out had a great time in the small waves

Hardie doesn't sail the Canaries, that's where he has his bank account!

Or is it his Harem?

Hmm my brain's getting old, maybe his oxygen supply?????

Hardie, what is it in the Canaries?

Did you check out the Sellicks Funnel Photos? Timmy was going off! Shame we didnt have that wind the other day when the swell was a lot bigger - although I didnt have any trouble planing that day!!! I told Smithy I took some REALLY GOOD SHOTS of TIMMY!!! [}:)]And when Smithy said why arent you sailing Susie I said oh that would be cos ITS A MAN'S SPORT!!!! Yeah thats right he said. GRRRRRRRRR. Nah I said I was sailed out after 3 1/2 hours playing CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!!!!
I should have told him to lose some weight. I'm seriously gonna make an effort to fly past him whenever I can - which is only when the wind is light BUT I'm gonna TRY. Man's sport indeed.

Agree with you Susie, I think one of the nicest things about windsurfing is that it can be a complete family sport, male or female 6 to 90 years old.
Just love it when my wife and I are out there together blasting around.

How dare you question my integrity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have sailed the Canaries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twas 1987, Tenerife, sailed at El Medano

I do not jest!!!!!!!

I was born in the Canary Islands in 1960, My father was a channel marker in Tenerife Harbour, and my mother was a penguin from the Lanzarote Islands!!!!!!!!!

I demand some respect from you Mr Decrepit, or my misfortunes are repaired elsewhere

Thanks Decrepit
Yeah Smithy got really cross at me the other night cos he couldnt move cos the wind was light and I kept flying past him and apparently said lots of misogynist comments. I should take it as a compliment I guess but I was a bit disappointed cos he has always been encouraging. Maybe he just had a bad day, but he said GIRLS should stay out of OUR sport and actually I've been sailing longer than he has even though I'm not that good BUT IM GETTING BETTER all the time - having three kids cut lots of sailing time but NOW THEY'RE GROWN UP hooray and I'm NO LONGER THE SHARK DECOY out there!!! Glad to hear your wife sails too. You must have some good holidays together!! Its great to have someone who understands the need to get wet too and that if its windy forget anything else. I think all the blokes should get their wives/partners/kids into it, they would get much more sailing time.

Hardie, look into my eyes, think about something red with jagged teeth on top, THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER!!!!!!!!!

On a mere philosophical detail, can respect be demanded???

Or just the appearance of respect?

If you're requesting the appearance of respect, that's not a problem!

But does that mean I only get the appearance of your misfortunes?

Susie, good photo shotsCouple that you took as they turned on the lip came out rather nice

And if only wife would go that bit extra to gain some confidence. Did the lessons, and after that said nu, you stick to it ol fulla, I'll just drive you to the Doc's when you get banged up. (knows me only too well cos I been twice and the last was painful)
But loves water sports, so no worries getting her to come along for the fun at least. Reckon I might just invest in a digital camera so she can play when I am blasting.

Am I who I appear to be or am I really the channel marker? If you dare to disrespect me, I may just move and leave you without navigation aides? Is respect earned or is it demanded, I would say that where I come from which is the Planet Uranus Respect does not exist without a demand, therefore I must demand, if you insist on using your earthling custom of earning respect, then you will never reach universal enlightenment, because you must conceded, that most values are culturally contextual and socially constructed, therefore, given I am closer to Alpha Centauri which is closer to the centre of the universe, my position is intellectually superior, and u must concede to me........ I DEMAND IT!!!!!!!!!

I think that's more than philosophical, that may be metaphysical.

Do they have channel markers on the way to Alpha Centurai? Never been there myself, what's the wavesailing like???

Now that's definitely metaphysical and I'm sure you're wrong on this count.
Is there a fine on this forum for waxing metaphysical???

Demand all you like, I don't concede to anybody especially if they come from the center of the universe.

Hardie - you really funny

Mineral - good idea re the camera and your wife and thanks, I had fun taking them. Would have gone out myself but probably needed a 3.5 and dont have one - or a weight belt, I have been threatened with one filled with rocks thanks to Slack. Anyway I was a bit pooped. I think my next shots will be of Wagga Lake.... oh no!!!! or Griffith Lake whatever. Cant taste as bad as Goolwa or Boggy surely - they further up the river.
Still havent got a helmet but I'm thinking about it.
