At the risk of being told to TTFU. After sailing all day yesterday my left foot is really sore. My brother happens to be a DR and tells me i may have tendonitis in the tendons from my toes.

I have had many long sessions before with no problems.
My foot is quite swollen and i cannot move my big toe.
Has anyone had this sort of thing?

It seems to be from curling my toes up on the front foot/strap during the long up wind slogs back to the top of Hardies Run.

I sailed for 20mins today with mavrick till he cut his foot and was glad to call it a day as my foot was too sore anyway.
Your thoughts??

Cheers Bender

Bummer Ben, hope it sorts itself out.
If you where closer I'd recommend the halls head physio. He windsurfs and understands most of our problems, he's sorted this old body out a few times.

Quite often with this sort of thing, stretching in the opposite direction helps.
How painful is it to stretch you toes out straight???
If it's only a bit more uncomfortable, try doing that 10 times for about 10 sec twice a day. It's only a guess, but may help as long as it doesn't hurt

Ben, i had the same issue yesterday as well for the first hour or so.
i ended up moving the mast base aft about 40 mm and the problem was solved. i guess its a balance thing involving mast base possition and boom hieght.couple this with using weedys i have found i need to change these items a bit to compensate with the centre of lateral resistance moving further aft which is what happens when you use a weedy.i guess in theory the rig needs to move back as well to rebalance, this is prob also apparent when sailors claim they struggle to sail up wind when using a weedy.
i know you where on your new board so it may be worth while experimenting with the mast foot position and in turn boom hieght.
hope this helps maybe some one else has a different theory, i can say coming from using 'normal fins' for decades to using weedys for the first time this year,i have had to make some adjustments in rig position to cope.
of course it could be just a case of needing to 'TTFU'
p.s well done on the distance pb

Be grateful it's only your foot which is sore.

I've got a patch on my stomach about 1-1/2" square which doesn't hurt, everything else is really angry with me for yesterday, wasn't overly impressed with having to prune a tree today either.

Seriously though, when doing the long runs (4km +) you notice any irregularities in set up which you would normally tolerate on shorter runs really start hurting 3/4 of the way into the run.

I find foot straps not adjusted correctly, can lead to all sorts of problems on distance runs, from cramping in the foot arches, leg muscle aches. It also can stop you pushing on the rail leading to other problems.

Like Snides said boom height will load up your front(down) or back (up) leg, but that will tend to hurt thighs and shins.

My foot is also bruised and battered but I know that came from kicking my board when catapulted mid way through the session

Thanks for the tips Snides and Elmo, think i need to take more notice of my rig set up.
Crazy thing is that all day i was continually tweaking my kit and it felt really good and i did not have any abnormal soreness and i felt really comfortable, perhaps i just need to TTFU

Dunno about my feet, but I have a constantly buggered toe (second one in on left foot), from trying to jam it into the strap too early, and missing by a toe, or two.

Just as the swelling starts to subside, I do it again!!!

Maybe try dropping a fin size. Ive had similar sort of pains from trying to keep the board flat when the fin is over powered.
