Read the forecast on BOM for South Coast NSW;

South Coastal Waters,Ulladulla to Gabo Island and 60nm seawards:
Wednesday until midnight: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots tending NE 15/20 knots in the afternoon and increasing to 20/25 knots in the south later. Sea: 1 to 2 metres. Swell: S/SE 1.5 to 2 metres.
Thursday: Wind: N/NE 20/30 knots. Sea: 2 to 3 metres. Swell: E 1.5 metres.
Friday Outlook: Wind: NE 20/30 knots.
Saturday Outlook: Wind: NE 20/30 knots.

Now obviously they seem to get stronger NE's than Sydney. Is anyone game enough to tell me where the best wavesailing spots are in this region not including Merimbula please?

Cheers,
Paul.

Paul,

7 Mile beach is the place. It is consistantly 15 knots stronger than anywhere else on the east coast during a north easter. Typically it will blow anywhere between 20 - 40knots in a forecast like we have at present. If there is swell go to Gerroa. If not shoalhaven heads.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a good one. There is some decent swell expected. I originally though that it may be to north east in direction to get into Gerroa but after checking the surf today, I reckon Gerroa could be good tomorrow. My estimate is head high early.

Or the secret spot that you won't find even if you look for it but it is right here in warilla bay. (Best Robbie naish impersonation during that speel)

Yo Paul,

When the south coast (ulladulla - gabo island) says its going to be stronger than the Illawarra. Don't beleive it. 7 Mile will almost always be stronger than further south, as long as it is forecast to be northeast.

Cheers again Whyner!

I know Gerroa is the windiest spot on the NSW coast however I was just interested in the possibilities further south that's all. The South Coast I reckopn would have some epic wavesailing in the right conditions however I never hear any info about the possibilities except for Merimbula and of course Gerroa....but I was wondering about Ulladula to Gabo Island...cheers again mate.

Paul.

Well there some great spots that I know of that can be excellent. One of which will remain a secret although I think the kiting nerds may be on to it.

Near Bawley point is a surfspot called sandmines which is unreal if the wind kicks in. I have stayed at Weiro Beach and it looks like it would be altime too, you need to find the correct tracks to get there. Lake Tabourie I have sailed in a huge southerly and it is wicked. On the other side I have heard that it is good in North East.

Kianga reef near Narooma looks unreal in a northeaster. I tried sailing Narooma bar in a southerly but I got there when the wind died. It looked sick throughout the day when I was watching it while working.

Hope it helps but the wind is unreliable.

Yeah I guess it's more unexplored territory down there. It's like Whyner said, 7 Mile is windier all the time anyway, but it would be good to uncover some more spots further down.

Sailed Manyana Beach in a strong NE once. That was great fun. Cross shore too. If there's more spots like that then that'd be awesome.

Qwerty Jnr has arrived!
Will have to get him out on the water next summer.

It's been blowing NE every day for the last week or so.
Got a good sail in most days.
