Just another topic which has nothing to do with windsurfing...but what the hell, the last one was popular!

Personally I would have gone for Craig Bradley.

Let's not get bogged down with details. What we are looking for here is a vitriolic slanging match between forum contributors, ideally with someone, somehow, finding a way to include mention of the Congo.

Just what we need, another washed up singer to be the Australian of the Year.

Selection Criteria for Australian of the Year:

1. Over 40 years old

2. Preferrably to once have had one of the following occupations

Captain of the Australian cricket team or champ at some other popular sport that hardly anyone does except for kids but love to watch.

Pop singer whose songs are popular with the blue rinse set.

Egg head professor helping cure kids cancer or some other medico

3. Do some sort of charity work in your spare time.

4. Don't do or say anything too controversial.

The only reason Tim Flannery got the gong last year was the committee wanted to tell John Howard to get fckued.

They ought to pick some other people to be Australian of the year like truck drivers or scaffolders.

My criteria:

1. How many schooners you can down in 15 minutes

2. How generous you are to people who need a hand with your time and money

3. What sort of dog you have

4. You wear a blue singlet

I'll start the vitriol by saying your spelling is atrocious

Steve Kernahan played footy for Carlton (the salary cap cheats) and once led a "Conga" line!

"Lee Kernaghan" - never heard of him! I just heard "Kernahan" and assumed it was Steve.

I must admit I did find the choice somewhat perplexing - if it had to be a retired Carlton footballer, I thought, as I said, Craig Bradley, or even Anthony Koutafides may have been a more astute choice.

Assuming the selectors must have been specifically looking for a tall forward, I just ran with it. The bloke is certainly Australian, which is really the only criterion implicit in the title "Australian of the Year".

Isn't it?
