Hi,

Anyone got advice on why when tacking/gybing the CAMS don't rotate and pop into place, but need to be pushed around ? Any thoughts on a fix ?

I've been careful to put correct outhaul/downhaul ?

It is rigged on a Severne 100% carbon mast with a HPL carbon boom.

Thanks

Use a round file and file a bit of the cams where they contact the sail . Just a couple of mm at a time .

Hi i ve been sailing my ssr 10 for 2mnths now, i almost got to the stage where i was going to bin it untill mr Love suggested trimmimng cams on another forum (ka sails koncept ) ive done this on my ssr 10 plus some downhaul tips on site at peli point and it does the trick but only a little by little , aprox 4mm .
Once you have done this plus down haul only 2to 3 cm over the recommended ext it is a very good sail , hope this helps , ive been playing with settings and finally found a medium if you need more info on the ssr 10 let me know and i will pass on what ive found and what works.

Thanks Mr Love and Paul D (sounds like a hip hop group).

When you say file down where the cams contact the sail, are you referring to the batten end ? As opposed to the mast end of the cam ?

Thanks for the advice !

Were the cam fits into the baton is were you file. What you are trying to do is loosen the tension were the cam is pushed onto the mast, less tension will help the rotation. Also ensure there are no spacers in the joint(check that first) and that the adjustement of the batton at the leech end is not too tight.

Yep , File the back edge of the cam where it goes over the batten pocket and contacts the sail body .You are in effect making your cam shorter . A bit at a time but dont wory if you go too far as you can always space it back out . It should fix all your cam rotation issues .

Thanks Mr Love, did as you said and filed about 3-4mm off and sail is rotating much better. Will see how racing goes this weekend before going further.
