Now that the season has started and people are bored with the forum time to throw some petrol on the fire.

I have kids to look after on a Saturday (No sailing) so a trip to the beach is the go.

To keep the kids out of the sun at the beach I have designed a beach shelter.

Four poles 4 metres high each with numerous hard points to attach ropes, The poles are buried in the sand and are then used to support a shade cloth .

The kids favourite favourite beach is the northern tip of Woodmans point where the nice flat water makes a great swimming spot. As the water is calm the shelter can be placed between the high and low tide marks. This will keep the kids shadee even i the water

To save time I’m going to ask the council if I can leave the poles in the ground permanently. Who knows if it works out there may be numerous pole support shelters all along the Northern shore of the point. [}:)]

Any objections ?

Other designs ?

Just kidding

Yeah, I'm thinking you dont really wont the poor little blighters to get wind burnt either .... so
about 20 poles approx 30m high, draped with a solid shade sail material should block the wind appropriately to make it a safe little location for them too play..[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

Apparently there's a cheap source of concrete there.

So we could build a concrete terrace there to stop the sand getting in your swimmers

You would have to add spikes to the top of the poles to stop the seagulls landing there and SOY

There's been complaints of car break ins.

What about surveillance cameras on the poles along all the beaches, of course they'll have to have those spikes on them as suggested to keep the seagulls off them.

well, the kids are gonna get thirsty, so you will need 240 Volts ( maybe a wind generator on top of the poles) that would save having to put spikes on top to keep saegulls away) Also at least 150 liter fridge, and if you have blocked off all the breeze with a shadecloth , you will need some fans.

Woodster, its a stir, coz the windbreak would block the wind to the kiters favourite beach
