You could make a real novel coffee table with it.

My 1st board was a new storm 10. I wouldn't recommend it today though.

Sorry my reply was a tad flippant, There's probably plenty of people here who learnt on a storm10. But even brand new they weren't a brilliant board.
So it's possible to learn on it, but these days there are much better options.

ride it, you will wonder when it's time to gybe because gybing can never, repeat never be gracefull on the storm 10!

whole lotta fun though for a few sessions. p.s.( the non skid will remove your dermus)

Aaaaah the STORM 10 such fond memories I had one of those, learnt to carve gybe on it. Did my first gybe with 4.5 rip curl wind series sail in the middle of winter in a 25 knt NW in lucky bay on my storm 10 That moment still stuck in my mind MANY years later. I perfected my gybes on that board.

Aaaaah might just go an reminisce

I've go an old glass board in the shed that I'm gunna cut up and make into speaker stands that way they are still useful and you can keep the memory when you sit in your loungeroom.

Mine was always spinning out, now I know the fin was crap and to far forward. Kanga cock, fence fin, football fin. Crazy little dudes that came out with those.

yeah, dont forget the Ben Lexen Winged Fin. My brother put one on and snapped the back of his board totally off on his first jump.
It was very funny. He wasn't impressed though!

I never mastered the new toy, always spinning out, no board has ever frustrated me so much.

Hey Kris,

I have a Storm 10 sitting on the wall at home.

Literage - Approx 150-160 Litres (from memory.

Put a good rigid fin in the board and remove the centreboard fin.

These boards were reputed to be some of the fastest production boards of their day (@ 1982/3) (22+ knots from memory was claimed)
On m first sail - I wemt so far downwind on a run I had to walk back about 3 k - major embarressment!!!

There are many better boards to learn on nowadays. It is worth noting that rigs have chnaged a lot since then and is the whole rig and board combination that matters. In 83 I was on a Wild Winds 5.0M sail that rigged on 490 mast( I think the boom length was about 155)- with a 57cm wide 95 litre board!! - How things have changed.

The lower profile sails with longer boom lengths, fins further back and mast track further back (all in general terms) has altered the sailing dynamic and putting a new rig on an old board could result in some weird and possibly difficult sailing.
