To get sailing in the shortest time to allow maximum time on water. In January I drove through a water crossing instead of going the long way around in my work supplied ute and blew up the motor. Hence no sailing that day.
The worst thing you can do is tell your wife I will sail today and do something with the family tommorow because the forcast is crap tommorow, the wind dosn't kick in as promised by the BOM and u are left trying to get out of the family day

Don't 'spose the contractions would cause some swell in the waters, would they? You could go wave sailing if there was some wind. Hang on, that might not be too pleasant.

Ive done that, and worse. I've found there really is no substitute for booms though or masts... <sigh>. Just last year I went to the beach with the wrong mast. I had to rig my 100% c 230 race mast or not sail so I went sailing of course and broke it in the shore break in 10 min... <double sigh>
