Does anyone know why SuperX is no longer a PWA event?
Disappointing cos you don't often get an event that incorporates the key skills of racing, freestyle and running people over.

I dunno cos I don't follow the PWA as such but how about:
Slalom42 (whatever that is??) is now in it so there are too many disciplines?
and / or it is not relevant as ppl either (1) race: do formula and slalom, or (2) they do Freestyle and wave. SuperX is like slalom but you need to be able to do some freestyle stuff so not many people take it up at state and national levels as they are either more oriented towards the two similar disciplines in number 1, or more towards the related disciplines in number 2
or I'm just dribbling rubbish again.

Slalom 42 was part of the PWA while SX was around..

Slalom 42 is actually slalom 4,2.
It means 4 rigs, and 2 boards. That is all the kit you're allowed to enter in a Slalom 42 event. Once you've entered, you're allowed to use any combination of your 4 rigs and 2 boards, but no extra kit.

I think there was quite a few more guys getting into the slalom events that didn't participate in years past and not many people signed up for Super X so they dumped it.
Just a case of not enough people wanting to do it I suppose.

if superx was a bit advanced for the masses maybe they should compromise and make an advanced slalom event where people have to duck gybe and some kind of jumping? stuff that's not too far out of reach for most folk and still helps improve skills

Yeah and that was what I was getting at (kinda).... most flat water speedsters will duck gybe and stuff. Not many will do fwd loops and vulcans (no insult intended)
Most wavesailors and freestylers will fwd loop and vulcan really well, but feel seriously weird when the straps are set on the rail, the fin is bigger then 24cm, and it is locked-in blastin type of stuff.
Mix the 2: great to watch for NON sailors..... but most sailors don't wanna do it. Or if they do wanna do it, they're too busy doing either freestyle OR speedin around to get good at both.
The only good thing to come out of it was freeride boards that could actually handle being jumped and landed flat a bit.
