Hi there,

Only been recently sailing in Sydney. Ive been heading to Kyeemagh mostly. That place is amazing in a N or NE wind. Ive noticed that its quite choppy in a S / SE wind. Is there somewhere near Sydney that is flat in a S wind without been gusty / offshore?

Hi David/Katapult,
Try down at the southern end of Botany bay almost literally underneath the Captain Cook bridge. It's a suburb called Sandringham and it is awesome in a southerly. Much less choopy than Kyeemagh and it even has 2 speed runs. Good little chop if you want a bit of bump and jump action too and a great sandy onshore launch spot so no trouble either.
See you there one day i hope!

Thanks Sick-em, I will check this place out next time. Looks promising on the google maps.

Katapult,

Kurnell also offers a bump free run in a Southerly, although it is fairly short.

Regards,
Harrow.

Harrow I'm curious as to where in Kurnell you can sail in a southerly. i went there about 4 weeks in the last really good southerly we had and the place was totally offshore bar a small bay that the water was so dark in you couldn't tell how deep it was or what was on the bottom for that matter. Was i possibly in the wrong spot?
