Which of you are Sydney Airport regulars? (There seems to be about 30). Come and say g'day to me next time you're there.

Regards,
Harrow.

(I'll be the one uphauling the Tabou.)

Eckas,

Are you the guy who gave me some advice while rigging up my sail?

Harrow.

I'm a Sydney Aiport regular.
I don't sail there though. I just wander around on the runway.

Last Sunday was a great day at Bestic St. heaps of guys, heaps of wind, some nice chop and a sunny day. Who says windsurfing is dead!!
i live on the northern beaches and me and my mates have been going to Botany heaps over the summer. Apart from gerroa its the better place for NE in Sydney. I thought the water would be bad but its pretty clean and long runs. Its about 2 nautical miles when you leave the beach, right to the runway and back. With the harbour tunnel and eastern distributor it only takes about 40 minutes.
Hey guys, what sort of gear do you have so I know who to say gidday to??

Most days I use a Qantas Boeing 747.
When it's windier I'll change down to a 767.

not too sure about the water quality around the northern end of Botany Bay. some of the water outlets in the area are considered the most poluted in all of Australia. Don't get me wrong, I do sail there my self at times.

I would agree that as far as wind strength goes in a NEer you can't beat Botany Bay. If you are after more chop try Wanda (Northern end of Cronulla beach). The NEer is usually best between 1:30 and 4pm. After that it will go more northerly and become more gusty.

As for last Sunday, sorry to say but Wanda probably was THE spot to be. Better than Gerroa, better than Long Reef and better than Botany Bay.

25-30knts.+, cross off, 1/2 to 3/4 mast waves. That's about as good as summer wave sailing gets in Sydney.

not disputing that Gerroa is better when you get the right wind/ wave combo...

... however, was there any wind in Gerroa on Sunday?

It was blowing its nuts off everywhere.
It was 25 - 30 knots in the Gong. Was probably 35+ at Gerroa, but I didn't bother as the Gong was quite suitable.
Don't know what the waves were like down there on Sunday. Was quite small the last few days.

Next week is when it has to kick in.

agree about wind 4 next week... forcast doesn't look to good though.

Last Sunday was wired. A couple of guys had come back from Gerroa around 5:30pm. They said they left around 2:30pm and there was no wind then... maybe it kicked in later.

Would be great to get a reliable weather station placed somewhere in Gerroa... maybe out at the point. I wonder if there is anyone at BOM.gov.au that could put in a word to have one installed there.

Some of the northside boys went down to Gerroa for Sat and Sun. Got nothing Sat and after hearing what Botany was looking like came back and sailed there. Small waves too. Strange!!!
