About to have a go at repairing a crack in the edge of the tail on my newly acquired Rrd that looks to be from it being stood up roughly or dropped onto a hard surface. New member so unfortunately I can't post a photo yet. Question for those in the know, do I need to do a full repair over the damage with matting or will it be enough to just fill it with resin? Been 30 years since I repaired a ding so any advice is appreciated, I have 2:1 resin already that is suitable, just need to know if I go the whole hog with matting as well. Thanks

I can send a few photos to someone for them to see or post for me if needed, I just can't post them with the current new member restrictions.

the edge of the tail isn't really structural, you can probably get away with just bogging it up, sand it back first so you get a good grip

Thanks, that was what I had thought and hoped.

Think I'd throw some cloth at that. Just bogging it probably won't last very long, it could just keep cracking.
You need to sand back a centimetre or so each side of the crack and laminate a couple of layers of cloth over it.

Make sure the board is dry inside . It could have sucked in a lot of water .

Oozing water? Paper towel dry? Vent hole dry?
Just solarez it if dry.

I think its well past solarez repair. Yeah it would work, but another knock would stuff it up again pretty easily. Agree with decrepit that a couple layers of cloth after the fill would be the best idea.
Advantage here is you have easy colours and a border to mask to, so a squirt of grey and a squirt of black and it could be invisible.
