I'm thinking of going to Tasmania early January for 1-2 weeks.
Anyone have any experience windsurfing there, best spots?
I have boards 75, 95, 150 litres and sails 4-8.5 m^2 what would you take?
I'm trying to make this a "family holiday" and just coincidentally wherever we stop there happens to be windsurfing, am I dreaming?

can't go wrong on an island! plenty of sailing locations, but even if you stick to the more family orientated travel spots you should score if the winds playing ball. sea-breezes should be happening around then if it's hot enough to warm up the land. north coast hot spots are up at stanley (also great family spot), around hawley beach / port sorell, and apparently a few good spots around the top of the tamar. marrarah of course if you're into waves, but guess it's not family friendly. anywhere on the east coast could throw up the goodies, just check it out as you go along. around hobart you can't beat a good sea breeze shooting straight up the derwent - launch at long point/beach at sandy bay (grass and free hot shower), or else heaps of action takes place around sth.arm. ralphs bay (dorans rd) on sth.west - nth.west, clifton beach on sea breeze. should be able to find something. i'm 72kg, sail year round on 89lt, and use 5.3 and 5.8 80% of time. mind you, would get more water time if i had a bigger board and rigs, so chuck out the kid's toys and take the lot! cheers easty

Thats right Easty,
just suck em down there at the same time you should be in Australia.
I should be as close to Tassie and neccesary this Sat, at sandy point.
All geared up to do some waves in the westerly then strap on the GPS for the SW change.

ah, but tony, you wont have that magic backdrop of a mountain covered in snow! (with the wind blowing directly off it - gotta be tough / mad down here - c'mon summer!)
