Ok...the goal here is to motivate myself to loose 20 kgs between now and the end of summer. The problem is I'm a lazy bastard that needs to be pushed into it, is anyone willing to come along for the ride?

So I think it should all start with a weigh in tomorrow night and then we'll weigh in every Friday night until the end of the challenge, What do you think?
The more people that get involved the better, If I know I've got some support I'll follow through.

The end of the challenge is yet to be set but I'll do this as soon as we get enough interest in the challenge, is there a prize I hear you ask. Well....I don't really know but I'm sure your body and your sailing will thank you in a big way. I'll see if I can organize some sort of prize, any sponsors out there please PM me..thanks in advance for your support.

Ok....if your in, post tomorrow night your current weight, a target weight you wish to loose and your local spot(incase there is someone that might want to team up for support) and we'll go from there.

Yes this whole idea is about me wanting to get fit but I know how motivating a little competition is so please join me and we'll get ready for the new season together.

Cheers...jase.

Started this week on weights & jogging after a 6 month sabbatical away from any form of excercise (too many excuses to list). My average sail has been about 1 a month and 2 sups for the last 18months!!! I've been feeling crap & unfit and struggled to do 5kms on the tready the first night, slightly better the last couple of nights & fitted new lights on my mtb for some night-riding, that's the only time I get to myself (work & kids).

Will build on it each day, but aiming for 20kgs in 4 months...then maintaining that for a while. Not too keen on joining a challenge though JH, but good luck with it.

I was working from home every day, and putting on weight because of the boredom and the fridge being so close, and came across ads for LiteNEasy. I ended up ordering it and it was/is good quality food, and surprisingly filling.

I did LESS exercise and lost about 23 - 24kgs in something like 8 weeks. From 106Kgs to about 82Kgs.

When I got to 82Kgs I was hungry!

I got bored with the variety so I have stopped using it for all meals, and my weight has now crept up back to 90kgs.

I think I would almost guarantee that if you ate just what they give you and nothing else, you would lose that weight quickly. Fast metabolism or slow metabolism, there are only so many calories in this food, so your body has little choice.

I had spent years in a gym doing a lot of weight training and cardio, and all it did was make me more hungry and I couldn't lose more than a few kgs. This food worked.

(*Warning, this will change the way your boards feel as my 135L was suddenly too big and the 116L felt they way the 135L used to*)

Well done jh2703. It's great what you guys are doing.
Apart from the windsurfing benefits your knees hips and backs will last longer! (The chassis wears out quicker when it's overloaded and you cant get genuine replacement parts)

Hey Jase
Sounds like a great idea. How about the Wetspot puts up a new ION harness as if you drop kegs then your old one won't fit! Not sure how you want to judge the winner, may be biggest percentage of body weight.
I'll let you work it out and see how you go. Wish I had have signed up earlier as I have dropped 8 kg since we were in WA. Should get planning earlier hey!
Good luck crew.

Scotty, you are an absolute champion!

There you go guys & girls, if you were looking for a reason to get involved...how's about a brand new Ion harness kindly donated by Wetspot Watersports in Canberra, Thanks again Scotty.

We'll leave entries open until next Friday(05/08) for anyone that wants to get involved, just incase your not addicted to seabreeze and check it every hour like I do. We'll come up with some way of picking a winner in the coming days and a timeframe for the challenge.

Stay tuned for more information soon.

Just read an artical about people that are around 100kgs and above that are classified as extremely obese.
It is more of over comming their psychological problems of why they have become so fat, why they seem to need to over eat, why they didnt do something about the obvious signs of their obesety when they got to 95kgs. etc.

The results found that most could lose weight and did, but,
couldnt keep from being 100kgs+ and obese because they didnt deal with their mental issues of why they are trashing their bodys with junk food and no exercise.

They compared it to being like an alcoholic,,,,,,who could stop drinking for a period of time useing will power,,
but couldnt keep it up for the rest of their lives, if they hadnt also dealt with the issues of why they had become that way in the first place,

Food for thought... pardon the pun

I read an article recently about people with a certain psychological impairment that forced them to spend a majority of there time trolling forums, and intentionally trying to be confrontational, it was related to a couple of attention seeking behavioral habits that stemmed from a feeling of inadequacy, or from a lack of maternal attention when they were young. One of the authors even proposed it was sometimes due to an individual having a particularly small falace!

Whats' your excuse lotoguff ?

Well actually the whole argument about over 100 kg is actually bull****. One of my mates is pprox 6 foot 10 his brother is 7 foot 2 both weigh around the 100kg mark. From a medical point of view both are considered well underweight.

When I was 18 and playing a heap of sport at an elite level at a bmi test I was considered overweight but when a real body fat test was undertaken I was actually at the lowest healthy level. We have all been told that if you are a certain height and a certain weight you are either ripped or fat. Absolute bollocks.

Body fat is a complex test rather than a quick look at a chart to give you an outcome. My focus will be to trim fat an increase muscle, this will mean I will probably weigh a bit more but change body shape.

Here is a hint let's forget about weight let's go for measurements of waist, chest, biceps and thighs.

If I weigh myself before a shower, and then again after, I'm consistently lighter after the shower.

No idea why

So now I always weigh myself with wet hair

It could be that you are a particularly filthy individual, and the amount of dirt removed in the shower is greater than the mass of water retained by your hair. It could also be that you pee in the shower, say half a litre of the yellow stuff probably weighs a good half a kilo. They are the only explanations I can come up with at this time.

Ummmm,,sorry if you didnt like the article I read.I didnt write it.Was not trying to seek you attention??????Why would I????
When you are no longer angry, obese and can actually see your falace againLOL,then maybe you wont need to be so offensive.
Like I said,,I didnt write the article. You make your own choices in life,,,to over eat,,to drink too much,,to take drugs, to do the dirty on ya missus, etc
good luck with getting out of your bad habits.Hope you can save yourself.
You will be much happier, fitter and love life much more than you realise once you lose all that weight.

Nice motivational speech

Well..it would be enough for most to think,,,hey,,,I have a problem,,,,,I should do something about it.
Hey,,,gotta face up to reality.Cant keep sugar coating the obesety problem....mmmmmm sugar coating....auuuuuuuuugh
Obesety is a psychological problem more often than not.
The person knows they are getting large eating way too much and not doing exercise, but continue doing so and just get more angry at themselves the more obese they get.So they get depressed and eat even more.

It is the persons own choiceto be overweight,(unhealthy, heart problems, diabetes etc) ,,,,no one forces them,,,,,,,like making the choice to smoke( lung cancer, throat cancer etc)
Not bagging you out,,just looking at the reality of the growing obesety problem.

Hope you beat your problem.

PS...you can tell by the red thumbers the amount of obese crew in front of their computer that know they have a problem

How many calouries burnt pressing the red thumb buttonLOL
Keep thumping the thumbs down,,,,Im helping you get healthy

I lost abt 10kg last year over 2 months and has managed to keep it off for almost a year. I used the 80/20 approach and found this book really helpful

books.google.com.au/books/about/The_80_20_Diet.html?id=hADPCRXnB1UC&redir_esc=y&hl=en

Now after a looong winter that seems to drag on forever (and a looot of beers) I'm back on the 80/20 diet and aim to loose 7-8 kgs before summer.

I need to lose about 6kg.
My main approach at present is cycling, and lots of it.
I did this ride today.
www.google.com:443/maps?q=http://share.abvio.com/1652/91d9/4e17/c736/Cyclemeter-Cycle-20110801-0837.kml
I chubbed up a bit in the the last 2 weeks, as I did a heap of night shifts and long 10hr days, which throws my food routine out of whack, so I'm on strict discipline and a big exercise kick while I'm home to get back to my baseline 80kg.

Anyone on the coast up for some rides ? I'll do another big one this week, either the Burringbah loop of Byron Bay return.
