That's awesome. I like the idea of the sailboard trimming it's fins to face into the apparent wind. The leeward float lifting off the water would be some savings too. Clever designer. Thanks for sharing :)

But can it do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs/sec ?. I don't think so !

I haven't followed the speed sailing thing for quite a while, but I thought everyone was trying to crack 50 knots not that long ago. Has the 50 knot barrier been smashed to pieces, and we are already closing in on 60? Wow!

That's nuts. It is good though. I mean look at it. It's about time something like that beat a guy and a parachute, that fit in a backpack and cost less than $10K.

Would it be much of a jump?

It looks like a craft like that could add a few more pulleys here and there and make the foil completely dynamic. As in you could angle it to the wind as we do, plus adjust down and outhaul. All on-the-fly. Perhaps automagically via computer.

...I sound like him.

But still. I'm sure that's the next step. The Oracle boats have a dedicated support vessel crunching all the wind data, and data from the boat, maximising the trim.

You'd need like what? One for the mast X axis, Y axis and downhaul and outhaul. Few more lines.

...I'm drunk.

I'm sure an r/c yacht could do it.
