I'm about to make the all to common trip round the world from UK to Sydney (roll out the pomme jokes) for a couple of years, a major work sacrifice!!!
I'm thinking about getting a quiverack ( http://www.actionvan.biz/quiverack/ ) so I always have my kit with me but I'm not sure how much good the australian heat will do sails, masts etc in a roof box like this.
Anybody use a roofbox? Is it a quick way to fry your kit? Any Australian alternatives to the quiverack so I don't need to get one before I leave?
Thanks for your help.

I don't think I've seen anyone down here in Melbourne use one.
Most people with cars just put their stuff inside. Some use a conventional roofrack.
My advice?
Buy a van

pricey but nice - heat wise if its white it'll be OK, no hotter than in a locked up station wagon (estate for you pommie's) - UV is the major problem with sails here.

I get a bit concerned leaving my board on the roof while I drive. It really heats up.
(I'll beat you to it: Get a white board)
