I want to know the best ten Sailing spots in Australia.

It's no good just blurting out a name, you have to comunicate why.

Why is it great for sailing?
What are the downsides?
When is the best time for wind?

If someone lists the one you like you can ditto it or add your 2 cents worth.

best winds

Hyden is a couple of hours from Esperance.

I'll give away a couple of spots in SA.

Sultana Point, Eyre Peninsula

LaKe George, for speed, south east coast

I'll also give away a couple of spots in Victoria: Sandy Point, speed; Inverlock, Speed and B&J

My ex-secret secret Spot that I'll now giveaway coz I'll rarely ever be able to sail it again, is Venus Bay River Channel, northern side of inlet, accessible at Boat Ramp area, on low tide, you have long sand bars and dead flat water (which is the old river bed channels), and on the right wind and tide can be as fast as Sandy point, just not as long!! And usually have it all to yourself, with just the odd boat to dodge, except when it's really windy coz no-one goes out in boats. This place is special on the right conditions!!!!!

PS: The reason for not giving away any more of the local spots in WA is because of the crowds and bad behaviour by some of the crew that come down from perth, and some of the overseas crew that hear about the places then treat it as if they own it. I'm generous to a point and then when people abuse the generosity, it's over red rover.

hey Hardie, what about the locals at Hyden!!! you could maybe think of them!! humm? they may not want hundreds of hooligans from Perth and elsewhere to come and drop in their 6m waves

TOP ten spots are:
The river, Pelican point, The swan river, Apple cross, North side of the river, Under the bridge, PeliPoint, South side river, the Swanny, Swan river sandy bar.

all within 10 km of Perth City center, super windy, warm cristal clear water, big waves, and no jelly fish at all (compared to everywhere else in WA).

I have a secret spot for Waveslave.

heaps of wind, huge swell, and definately uncrowded.

"the Nobbies".

So far it's flat water spots outnumbering wave spots.

there must be spots to do both.

Hey Greenroom,
That Spot G is almost impossible to locate.

Just when you think you've found the gold, a fork in the journey will get you lost in the bush again.

It takes a man a lifetime to find it, when you do it's the pot of gold, you flick the switch to their eternal desire, the problem is by the time you find it, your testosterone levels are so low, you can't be bothered any more!

currumbin, fabulous currumbin has been going off for decades.
when it works it is a down the line smooooth easy peeling five off the lip smile inducing kind of place without being too windy and you got to live near here to really experience it.
better than hookipa when it's really going off.
and everyone does the palm beach triathlon.

Pretty sure all east coast sailors can vouch for gerroa being our number 1 sailing spot. No1 for wind(even when theres no wind anywhere else theres wind here), waves (picks up %100 of any south swell) and the best damn down the line wavesailing anywhere!!!! This place rips holds huge swells and provides the cleanest waves for endless bottom turns and huge airials. This is also the location for the up-coming nationals, so to all you west coast sailors umming and ahhring about coming east my rec would be do it cos this place is as good as any westcoast spot and is goin to deliver awesome conditions as always.
