Starboard foil boards use it

forum guys put me onto these from Supercheap Auto, to replace goretex plugs, work great
they may have them in normal plug size ...

So that we can use the search feature this thread in the future...

I ordered some from shq which is the only place i could find them in stock.

i’ve now managed to switch everything to torx head… slot box, tuttle, etc, footstraps and vent plugs.
i’ll list out where everything came from for future reference.

Quick question , why would you want torx apposed to Allen key ?

Quick question , why would you want torx apposed to Allen key ?

Torx handles more strain than hex head..hex head eventually chews out, Philips is woeful. I’m sick of chewing out Philips heads. Obviously depends on where the screw is as to how much force is required. Not everything needs to be torx head but swapping everything means two tools cover everything.

I hear what your saying, however.......i find that torx holes are usually only half as deep as Allen holes. Because of this ,flog out about the same. Cos we use soft stainless ,neither is really good.

Because of my background, I've used both for many years. I don't think there is an dissavantage with torks , just not an advantage. In windsurfing I use Allen. Half the reason either go crappy is because of the quality of either driver. Especially if not seated fully. It's hard to damage a good quality Allen key if seated all the way. Tha shank should twist before the end rounds off. In our sport sand half filling the hole is usually what damages both.

have chewed out many hex heads.. i’m done with it…footstrap screws for starters. Grub screw for fins… and i use good quality tools and the correct size.

however if hex is your thing then go for it… if it works it works..

Yeah i like severnes approach too of making the batten tension tool fit everything.
