Benny

In technical terms these are as rare as rocking horse poo.

They are called barrel nuts and are used in furniture manufacture, unfortunately the only ones I found available in my searches a couple of weeks ago were all steel.

Ikea Has "bed bolt" sets which have some bolts and barrel nuts in a set but it as it the other end of the freeway form my local I didn't go for a drive.

If anyone has a source I would also be interested

Hi Benny,

We have heaps. Either Second Wind or Windforce will be able to get them in for you.

It would be good idea to give them a call first so they can get some in if they don't already have them in stock.

Also known as "Cross dowels" and apparently Bunnings has them, although if you can find anything in Bunnings without asking for help you're doing better than I can.

One more question for all before this topic dies out.
Noticed that one in my fin US BOX is loose, and all the rest of my fins are locked in place, with no lateral or rotational movement.
If its supposed to be locked in place,? how do I re-lock it, or is it OK as is.?
By loose, its not trying to fall out of fin base, but can rotate forward and back (front to rear)
Mineral.

Hey Mineral, do you mean Powerbox?

I don't think it's a problem unless you have trouble getting the screw to find the thread because the dowel is in the wrong spot. I have trouble with one of the threads in my JP weedy like this.

Either way just stick a bit of silicone around the flat bits of the plug, that will locate it nicely. Before you do it though, mount your fin in the board then take it out so that you know the dowel is in the right spot

better yet put bolt unto fin until centered then put superglue(cryanoalate???) on the side of the fin where you could see the side of the dowel and it'll hold it in place so you don't have to fiddle the bolt thru when your adrenaline is pumpingand all the guys are zipping by

I bought a few from SOS a couple of years ago. They are the only place I could find in Perth that has them.
