You guys and girls out there with vans - a question:

If the van is your only car and you need to transport say some relos visiting from over east (say 4 people in total) how do you deal with it? Do you plonk them up front or can you fit seating in the back or....?

Add seating in the back. Ideally buy a VW carravelle or multivan with the removable seats.

Depends on your location.....ie:- remote - in the back on bean-bags (providing it's only a 'short/slow' trip and you're providing a full esky)

Or do what Clark Griswold would do, and tie them to the roof!

get fold down seats added. my transporter seats five comfortably. get it approved though or the cops can fine you as most vans are only registered for 2/3 seats

Pricey option that one by the time you install seats ,seatbelts and over the pits for ADR approval you could hire a car for them while they are visiting!!!

I am in the industry and that job is about $2000 from memory.

Hey John - many vans still have the screw holes in the floor for the seats/seatbelts etc., with rubbber plugs in them My old 1990 Mazda E2000 has them. Depending on the van type - I would consider picking up a second hand seat/seatbelts from Quokka etc. In my vans case, that would be three in the front; and two in the added seat.

Be a good bloke and pick up their luggage and point them in the direction of the bus stop.
