if the rain stays away, is anyone interested in a day at viccy? i know the bank won't be there, but should be fun for chops?

otherwise - if it's raining, back to shearwater again for post 2pm chops?

The Train was windy as hell today, but somewhat gusty...good for practicing those combination moves, like waterstart to catapault, hook in to catapault, gybe to faceplant, etc...hey, how come I was the only one there??

(OK I was lying, I never gybed)

some of us stopped by to check it out, but the wind direction was too south for the train to be consistent. However, a couple of us did admire your environmentally friendly windsurfing equipment transporter

i know it's a bit of a hike for you, but shearwater or at least "the grand motel" is a better spot when the wind is very south

hotel, sorry

about 2 or 3 km further north along the gc highway. it's the set of traffic lights before the brisbane rd left-hander set of traffic lights when heading north

it's relatively tide unaffected and has a sandbar you can sail behind like at the train. u sail between the sandbar and wavebreak island

with the future broadwater redevelopments the grand may become the new "train", which apparently it was back in the 80s and 90s

thanks heaps for the photos Guru Hairy. Are they twins with the gold sails?

Actually, the Grand has always been a bit of an exotic location. But most people used to sail on the southern end of Wave Break before the bank totally filled in and the trees got too big.

Your loss there Wet Willy- with this southerlie blowing you won't even have to peddle the last 2k's
BTW Haircut awesome photos- what lens were you shooting with? The clarity on the zoom shots was amazing- considering that the red buoy (in deVectas shot)is a couple of hundred metres away.

Those 22-26cm fins sure let you go in close, but a couple of turtles along the bank on Wednesday gave all a scare. I hate falling in ankle-deep water. My bet is either Vando or Pierre to take the biggest chance for flat water....

I hate that feeling you get when you feel that tick... ticktick... from the fin. You know you're only half a second away from this:

Well, it was nice and windy in my backyard on the weekend. Would've been nice to have gone windsurfing. Oh well.
