I dont want to hijack a simlar thread so....

I am looking at buying a JP 06 93ltr fsw, I weigh about 92kgs starkas 173 cm short and will probably only get down to about 88kgs over summer if I am a good boy, with rig + me + harness I reckon the total weight will be around 100kgs. Yupp tubby

That gives me a negative bouancy of 7 kgs, should I be looking at somthing more like a 100ltr board? My smallest board is a 102 old plastic jobby that I belt around on at Woodies in the chop and I go fairly hard at it when I am on the water (Well I feel like I am) I have launched it off chop just to see what will happen, one word (SPLAT) so I give it a nudge.

Do you think my proposed new purchase is the way to go?

If you think I will manage, are there any tips from you gurus to assist with getting up on the plain? Do you also think a 6.7 in 18knts will get me going? (How long is a piece of string.... I know, sorry but I need an idea form the guys that know)

Sorry to ask so many Q's, but I dont want to make the incorrect decision, the board I am getting is from a good mate and I know he would tell me if I was doing the wrong thing or not, I am interested in hearing other opinions.

We are having our first child in about 2 months, so funds are needing to be spent wisely.

Thanks heaps.

If it's a good mate you could take it for a test run first, no?

Are you planning on this board being your one and only?

You can waterstart, right?

More than likely.

GT, have the 130 and the 110 yep my kids have gooooooornnnn

Also have the JP freeride wave 94lt just like this one.
http://www.boards.co.uk/equipment/boardsearch.asp?ID1=703

At 88kg's have no problems and its OK for me. Reckon you will go OK with the 93lt. They will go like a shower of s... compared to the old 102 I can tell you.
Have run my 94lt at S/Bay with an old 6.7 and it was fine.
I found it a bit unusual at first but as your coming from 102 down to this size you probably will feel OK on it.
Hope this helps.
And if its the good mate I am thinking of, well he should give it too you for zilch
Don't attempt it in river until seabreeze kicks in. Right now its to on and off with Winter gusts.

Dude I plane EASY with a EVO92 and 5.7 in 18kn... same weight as you at 92kg. With a 6.7 you'll piss it in, but a 6.7 won't really feel comfy on a 93FSW without a bigger than standard fin.

Firstly congrats on your new baby. You will love being a Dad!! It will take a few days out of your sailing but it's worth it.

I reckon you might fnd the 6.7 a little big for the board but otherwise you should be ok with the volume. I am running the Tabou 97 3s with a 6.2 and the 115 Rocket with 7.5

Thanks guys,

Just got back from the antenatal class

Mino, Gybe, Mark and Leech,

Cheers, that is the kind of feed back I was looking for, I have been offered rides on new equipment but was to concerned about damaging the gear when coming off, so I have no idea how good the newer stuff can be.

My friend would not have done the wrong thing that is fer sure, I just needed to see some like for like experiences.

Thanks Gybe for the baby thoughts, We are getting excited now

Be cool GT

Minto, I have the very same FSW93L and I weigh in at 100kg.

The board rides smooth as and holds a 6.2 no worries.

It will suit you fine.

I've got a 07 JP fsw 93L & I have recently been using it with a 6.6 with no problem at all. I weigh about 75kg. I've been using a 32cm fin and the set up works really well. In 15-20k I;m well locked down and cruising.
