WINDSURFING QUEENSLAND SERIES 2007

NOTICE OF RACE

Queens Beach Redcliffe October Round 1 07/10/2007

QUEENSLAND WINDSURFING ASSOCIATION


RULES:
The regatta will be governed by:

The rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008 (RRS);
RRS Appendix B – Windsurfing Competition Rules
this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The event is open to all boards that race in the ‘Slalom’ and ‘formula ’ formats.
All competitors shall be financial members of Windsurfing Queensland (Memberships will be available on the day of registration).
Entries, on the attached form, shall be lodged at the registration desk between 1200 and 1300 hrs each race day.

FEES
The entry fee will be $15 per day.

Note: In the event that the scheduled number of races can not be completed, there will be no refunds.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
A competitors meeting will be held at 13.15 each race day.
A maximum 5 races will be scheduled each race day.
On each day of racing, the first warning signal will be 1400 hrs.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration and on the Windsurfing Qld website www.windsurfingqld.com

COURSES
Subject to conditions, courses may be ‘Figure 8’, ‘Downwind M’ ‘.upwind for formual ”which will be described in the Sailing Instructions.

PENALTY SYSTEM
RRS 44 will apply except that the two turns penalty shall be replaced by a ‘one turn’ penalty.

SCORING
The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply, except that when 6 or more races are completed in a day, a competitor may discard his /her two worst scores on that day.
When only three (3) races can be completed a boats score shall be the sum of the competitors scores for all races.
After each race day results will be posted on the Windsurfing Qld website.

SAFETY
All competitors shall wear personal flotation devices which are in good condition and are in accordance with the specifications issued or approved by a national authority or standards organisation and branded in the country of origin or manufacture.

ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO RRS 1.2.

SUPPORT BOATS
Boats shall keep well clear (100 m) of the course area during racing, except when asked to assist by the race committee.

DISCLAIMER
Queensland Windsurfing Association, their members, officers and sponsors and all others involved in the management and conduct of this series, shall not be liable for any loss of life or injury, or for the loss of property or damage, caused by or arising from participation in this event. The race documents and instructions in no way limit or reduce the complete and unlimited responsibility of a competitor for the management and care of a boat that they have entered in the event. ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO RRS 4.


SAIL NUMBERS
A reminder to all competitors that sail numbers must be displayed, in accordance with AWA rulings. That is no less than 230mm in height, and in black legible font. One set of numbers applied to the starboard side of the sail will be sufficient.

All competitive sailors have been issued a number - please check you number at www.windsurfing.org.au
