A note to all WQ race members.
With the new rules from AWA we are required to have AUS numbers on our sails at competitive events (state titles etc). This has meant that now when you become a member you are randomly allocated an available AUS number.
Please take a look at the AWA website on the link below to see what your number is.
www.windsurfing.org/files/info/AWA_Members.pdf You can apply to John Rohdes from the AWA for a specific number but you should check that it is not already on the list of registered numbers. This list can be found on this link.
www.windsurfing.org/sailnumbers.htm Please make sure that you do not flood John with requests and try and provide three options that are not on the list to avoid rejection.
We will all look very professional out there this year with our new numbers. Old registered numbers will still be acceptable but only if they are clearly defined and abide by the requirements for sail size, colour and shape. We don't want to make it too difficult to make the change over but would like to stop the use of illegible grey duct tape to give the start crew a chance this year.
If you are a new member the new AUS numbers will eventually be compulsory so you may as well go to the effort of getting it right from the start.
Regards, WQ.
