This forum thread has been established to track ideas and discussion about:
4) Event Ideas - Wave / Freestyle / Expression / Supercross
following a successful meeting held tonight for Windsurfing Victoria at Parkdale Yacht Club. There were a number of issues discussed wth the five main areas being:
1) Administration of WV - Incorporation?, Insurance? Membership?
2) How to grow the sport in Victoria - Trainers? Youth? Accreditation?
3) Event Ideas - Racing - Formula / Slalom / Speed / Retro / Wally / Fun / Supercross
4) Event Ideas - Wave / Freestyle / Expression / Supercross
5) Social Events and the Web Site

The meeting was a great forum but most likely there are many views, ideas and opinions yet to be voiced. Please utilise this thread to register your thoughts on the topic in bold above whether you are a member of WV, a Victorian windsurfer or from some other part of the country with a useful opinion.

Not a lot of discussion about specific events. Mention of the possibility of a combined discipline event at Inverloch to feature wave / free / slalom - in the surf and inlet. All events need to be organised through RPS / SHQ / Instructor / Yacht Club to insulate organisers from legal issues. Brett and Joel keen to assist in organising - some suggestion of an event around Geelong / Torquay. Anyone keen?

I have a mate who will be moving to Torquay after the Tabou Event in QLD. Get him on board, A wave event in the cold country could be epic. Even if Victoria only put on one big event (like the Tabou) each year. You could attract the travelling wavesailor. Australia could develop it's own semi pro tour if each state had one event with real prizemoney. QLD has its event now.
