Hey Kevin,
Nice one.But If we had had all the event results out soon after each event ,it may have encouraged more entrants. Really need to sort it out for next season.

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for the results and all your work for the season. I would also like to thank all the WWA team. As you know many people are quick to want things done in a different way (Simon). However they are not offering there time to help (Simon).

The WWA people are doing what they do to help the sport not to make money.

As I heard everything was great this year,

Hey Dali Lama,
Was not having a go at Kevin, or the WWa, it is just very frustrating when great events are run over the summer, and no results are ever posted.
It takes two minutes to post a list of results on this forum after an event, but because it does not get done, no one hears about the events, so even less turn up at the next event. It must be very frustrating for the volunters (Nikki, the raddis's etc) who put so much time in, only to see numbers dwindle.
I have heard more, and read more about the kite events this year, because they shout about it, and promote their events properly.

WWA does a great job, I suspect that it maybe the event organiser,s who actually decide on release of results, Ledge to Lancelin used to have a great website with previous results and history, for some reason they no longer post results, MUST BE A STATE SECRET. Anyhow keep up the great work WWA, what about a Leighton to Trigg event, I would be happy to help organise. I know that it would attract a lot more numbers and maybe more sponsorship.

You are right Bermand,
As i know this was a major issue last year, that the commitee were not supplied with results after the events. I still do not know who won the Ledge, this year or last, yet the Safety Bay MArathon results were posted on here the same afternoon.

Hello Simon,

If you support the industry so much? Why were you the only sponsor to pull out of an event this year?

Also you may want to give your time to put the results on the web. Maybe you can be the person to chase them up.

As the Dalai, I feel it is my duty to make the place work as one. It is also important that everyone puts back into the world, not just take.

Hey Simon, this is the only info available on this year's event, off the Kinetic website

The Cougar Bourbon Lancelin Ocean Classic is without a doubt the biggest and the most successful contest in Australia, which has been running for 19 years.
The event is a down wind Marathon starting from Ledge Point with a mass beach start with over 100 sailors busting off the beach at the same time then into a 7 mark 25km down wind slalom course with a beach finish in Lancelin in front of the Lancelin Tavern.
From 7pm on wards is one of the best parties Australia as to offer at the tavern starting off with the presentations and a mass fire works show following up with a modelling contest and then top bands and DJs keep the crowed of 2000 happy till late.
The 2004 Cougar Bourbon Lancelin Ocean Classic was to be hard call on what sail size and board size to use as the wind was around 12 to 15 knots and looking to be building just before the start. Some sailors opting for light wind slalom board while the others going for Formula set ups.
As the gun fired, it was Robbie Radis (Neilpryde/KInetic) with a near perfect start shooting straight into the lead of the pack of 100 sailors. Former winner of the event- Daniel Engdahl (KA/Starboard) also got away clean and took hold of 2nd place while Jesper Orth (Severne/Starboard) was close behind in 3rd. Radis and Engdale took formula boards while Orth went for a big slalom board set up. Orth started closing the gap on Engdale as they powered down the first reach. 2km in the first reach, Orth made his move as he pass Engdale to take 2nd place but Radis was holding good board speed with a 100m lead as they rounded the first mark. The next reach was deep off the wind and Orth look to be struggling with his smaller set up as Engdahl started to close the gap.
Half way down the second reach, Engdahl regained 2nd place and began to pull away from Orth. Radis; however, continued to build his lead and now had a 300m lead has head round the second mark.
Radis went on to build his lead down the rest of the course and by the last outside mark had a 1000m lead on Engdahl who had also built a 900m lead on Orth.
As Radis come into the beach, his was greeted by over a hundred spectators, As he hit the beach over a 1min clear of Engdahl, the crowed went wild has Radis through both arms in the air as he run up to the finish line to take the Cougar Bourbon Lancelin Ocean Classic out for his first time and with this event win also claiming the Westen Australian tour title for the second year in a row. Engdahl come in 2nd with Orth following in 3rd.
Comments –“Winning this event means so much to me. It was the very first event I ever competed in when I was 15-years-old and on that day I said to my self one day I am going to come back and win this event and today was the day”, said Robbie Radis (Neilpryde/Kinetic). He continued, “It’s also a great feeling to take out the Western Australia Tour as well. The season has gone so well for me. I am now really look forward to going to Asia on Friday to work on defend my AWT title.”

It is a sad state for the sport when Robbie wins the ledge point race and has to write his own report on his own business' (sponsor's) website.
Congrats to Robbie on ten years work to get where he is. He has to self promote like most pros now to keep sponsor interest. This years tv coverage was due to Robbie chasing it. Ten years ago the Lancelin race was on the saturday sports programs for 4 years,(I still have the footage) now it doesn't rate a mention.

Dalai lama should be more specific about what "supporting the industry" means to him. Simon has introduced to the sport and encouraged along, more people in the last 3 years than most people in the state, which IS supporting the industry by creating new sailors. Giving prizes to the few that race is not supporting the industry in the long term.

Dalai lama,
The event that i was going to sponsor (green head) was cancelled by WWA ,not by me. What is your point.
Also, I was the person who posted the Safety Bay Marathon results(as well as Bob Dunlop) within 24 hours of the event finishing.
I would only too happy to do the job, as it only takes two mins.

i might be dumb but i cant find the results on the site. i have the 2001-2002, 2002-2003 results but no more then that.

Also i do believe that there should be a full list of results after each race put on the web so people know that there are races being run and also to spark a bit of curiousity about the racing scene.

You're not dumb ... they're not there!

A few years ago when I started developing the web site I thought it would be great for competitors to know mid-year ranking and attract more participation to events. While the last 2 years results were provided reasonably regularly and comprehensively, this year i've only had succinct info, mostly thanks to Robbie. Unfortunately, the info has mostly been limited to the first 3-5 sailors, with no break-down across categories and event types (wave, race comp, etc.)

I think each event organiser should use a standard excel spreadsheet with all wwa sailors to log on the day (maybe through a PDA) or a few days after the event. That would give us a standard format for upload in the wwa database. From there, we can calculate the rankings on an ongoing basis (I have yet to tackle the algorithm from hell though!)

I know WWA is not all about comps, but the fact is this is what gives the sport exposure to media and sponsors. That's also what make the sport progress. It also gives many sailors a purpose and opportunities for international comps.

Suggestions welcome!

its funny i thought i saw more than 10 sailors in the ledge ,but i guess unsponcered sailors dont try as hard ,that must be why they dont rate a mention

how is it that trophys can be allocated for all divisions if a rank system isnt kept over the whole season ??
this seems bizarre to me. surely each race director has the responsibility of finalizing the results and sending a copy to WWA.

If the ranking has not been kept through the season, what races contributed to the ranking for the WWA trophies this year./

And what's moe I looked and looked and looked and couldn't find my esults anywhere so I thought maybe i'm so crap blah blah (kaos99) but then I noticed there is no result selection for womenzees. That splains it cos I sail like a big lassie and ....oh it's late...
Always a drama getting result up there but with tekonogical stuff it oughta be a bit acheivable.
maybe next season....

More info from Kinetic website, still the most reliable spot for racing results

The Safety Bay end of season speed trails was great chance for all the sailors amateur's and pro's to get out there and have a good time. The conditions were very challenging with winds speed of 20 to 30 knots and choppy water conditions.
Robbie Radis (Neilprdye/Kinetic) was out on the course early keen to show the speed of the new RS4 and with in a few runs had broken the 70km mark with a 70.9km run on his 6.7 RS4 with his 55cm wide Kinetic slalom board.
Dan Engdahl (Severne/Starboard) along with Chris lockwood (Arrows/Kinetic)
also followed soon after. Engdahl managed to get the closest to Radis with a 68.4km run on his costom speed board with a 5.8 Severne sail with lockwood holding down 3nd place with 67.3 on his 5.8 Arrows with a speed board he build him self. Radis after a short brake then hit the speed course again and put down his fastest run with a 72.2 and then finished of the day with a 72.6 run.
Engdahl & Lockwood were not able to improve on there speeds so Robbie Radis (Neilpryde/Kinetic) took the speed event out with a speed of 72.6km.

Comments. Robbie Radis (Neilprdye/Kinetic) I was a little nerves as first as I dont have a speed board and my 6.7 RS4 is the smallest sail I have at the moment.
But in the end I had great board speed and control in the high winds.

1.Robbie Radis (Neilprdye/Kinetic)
2.Dan Engdahl (Severne/Starboard)
3.Chris Lockwood (Arrows/Kinetic
