Was wondering with the amount of digital cameras about nowadays whether anyone knows of a lowish cost waterproof digital camera. It must be easier to put together a waterproof digital cam than a film one as you only have to seal the memory card slot and the battery case.

I know lots of standard digicams come with waterproof housings, but they cost as much as the camera and are usaully a couple of hundred bucks. Would be cool to get hold of something that you could rig up for mast mounts etc.

I Use an Aquapac with my Pentax Digital SLR and it works fine. I have used it down at Scarborough in the waves and up at Wedge with a bit of snorkelling. Aquapacs for compact digital cameras are about $44 and then go up from there with Video cameras and SLR I think about $130 - 140.

I have also used one for my mobile for a number of years with no problems.

Full range available at Airborne Kitesurfing, rear 11 Howe St, Osborne Park.

Ian.

or u could just buy and olympus digital camera, coz every camera they make they make waterproof cases for which dont void the warranty and can withstand pressures up to 40 m... so u can use it diving as well... is a little more expensive though, case cost $3-400... but if you shell out 700 for a camera like i did, u get a really good quality camera that u can take any where, and fully operate. I am yet to buy the case... waiting for christmas.

I bought an Olympus Mju 4mega pixel/2*zoom for $312 at cameraland a few weeks back.

You also get for free ( you send away for it) an underwater housing worth $170.

It really good. The camera is really tiny so the housing is only the size of a very small camera and you can operate all functions.

Great pics, easy to use.
