Just came across this while shopping for a new uphaul on www.surfsailaustralia.com.au/

www.easyuphaul.com/

It's made by the people who make the easy-uphaul device, looks like it could make learning to waterstart easier.

There's also a video here:
www.easyuphaul.com//waterstrterVid1.html

Looks pretty cool, might try and make one myself and see if it's any help!

BTW, I'm nothing to do with this crowd, just saw it and thought it may be of interest.

Interesting. I think it's pretty funny that they patented the "Waterstart method". Hopefully they won't patent gybing, otherwise we'll all end up sailing to New Zealand. (or whatever the WA analogy is.)

Hi Guys
About the waterstart helper.I use one of those floatation noodles from the department stores. You bend it and cut it to size and cable tie it on.Only trouble is you go through the cable ties as you have to remove one side to pull on your outhaul of your sail. But it works a treat you get some weird looks!!

I'll give that a go, sounds like a cheap alternative.
