Hi Guys
I have been away from the sailboard action for the last 10 or so years, but would like to get back into it. I want to muck around on the river, and do a bit of mixed fleet racing at the local sailing club(lots of up wind). Will these new formular type boards go up wind well enough or should I stick to a normal type longboard with centreboard ? I was thinking about a mistral one design. are they a nice board to sail in 5 to 20 knots? has there been many changes to the mistral in the last 5 or so years? what would I expect to pay for a second hand one and what faults should I be looking for. I am now over 80 kilos, so to heavy for the old wally class but thats the type of racing I used to enjoy. I live on the north coastof NSW.

Thanks for any help

g'day nev
there are plenty of Mistral one designs for about $1000 or less fully rigged about as there is little to know imco racing anymore. but the new formula racing could be ideal for you with your weight. once they are going the point almost as high as an imco and allow for the heavy guys to be competiteve.
