Man, now I understand what the fuss about high winds is all about! I just got back from a session in 25 knots at Cabarita lake with a 4m sail, my god I've never seen the lake like that before. There were whitecaps trailing foam, the wind was a bit gusty but when it decided to blow for real it was incredible!
I got hooked into the straps, was leaning right out over the water and the board was making a noise I've never heard before, a deep thrumming sound as I went over the waves, the boom was singing like a flute as the wind hit the holes in it, and when the sail was trimmed right I could feel the force building and building in the rig. Occasionally I had to sheet out as a sudden big gust hit, then I'd lean right back and sheet in again, until the back of the sail stopped flicking and was nice and taut to ride the gust out. The power in this thing is incredible, I would never have believed that a 4m sail could make me go that fast...
OK that's it, I'm hooked

Anyone else on the gold coast been for a sail this weekend?
