Looking at getting a larger fin to use in lighter winds with a larger sail on my 105 Tabou Rocket. My board came with a 32cm freeride fin. I am thinking 36cm would be about the right step up, yes?

Any suggestions for which particular fin? (or anyone want to get rid of one?)

Thanks,
Harrow.

Harrow, what size sail are you going to use it with?

and select's should be cheaper than that and work good.

Hey Gestalt,

I know I have purchased at least 3 Maui free ride fins from Simon at Board Crazy (a 28, 30 and 34).

They are great free-ride based fins. I don't use the maui fins much any more - switched to Selects, but for free ride they are great.

Easy to work on the plane, can be loaded up well and point OK.

I know that I can get planing earlier on a Maui 34 than many 36's.

Worst criticism is they lack top end speed.

Hey Gestalt,
Windshack is the importer for Maui Fin Company in Australia and we have the fins in stock. If you are not in Perth I can put you in touch with your closer dealer.
Best Regards
Ciao

Mark,

It will be for a 6.5 and a 7.5.

You should be fine with a 36 or 37, it might be a little small for your 7.5m but you are only light so it should be ok.

Hi Harrow, fins can be a bit tricky as the surface area also plays a role. I have a 36cm NSM slalom fin which is great on my 7.5m but I also have a 30cm B&J which also works well as the surface area is huge. I have managed to acquire a good colection of fins over the years, you welcome to try a few sizes to work out what you need.
