Hey everyone,

Just bought an 85L starboard kombat tonight and was wondering about which fin i should use. I know when to use the little one that came with it also, but i currently have a 28cm select style fin and was wondering if that would be a better fin to use with it than the drake kombat 280 that came with it. They say the fins are both 28cm but the select fin is about a cm longer and not as wide (can post pics). I'll be using it in fresh flat and sometimes choppy water all the time.

Also, i currently have a 100L naish wave board aswell and was wondering if there would be much difference in the amount of wind i could use either of these in. According to the stats they both have the same sail range (even though i gone much abouve that on the naish board). Once again i do all my sailing in fresh flat and sometimes choppy water.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

for the lighter days when your suffering to get on the plane, go for the one that is a cm longer, but for the higher days go for the one that is shorter, because you will have better up wind ablility. both fins are 28's but they are different designs one is made for controll one is made for speed, more surface area=more control, longer surface area= better speed and lift. the only way to find out is just go out there on the same day, and test out both fins, but i would thing your shorter fin would be the best choice.

on thing that will help with the boards question would be if we knew your weight but if your the same as me, (68kg) you wont be able to use the 85 ltr board in lighter winds unless you have really good technique, i have used my 85, when i should have been using my 100 ltre board, and still had a great time, but had to really work it to get onto the plane, but once again its one of those things you need to try for your self and see if you are confident with it
