Latest News..

The Date for the next meet has been set for Saturday, August 19th, from 1pm. The venue will be the train on the Gold Coast. Check out the club website for details of location and street map. Just in case the wind decides to be westerly, the meet will be moved to Wello. (I thought I would get that idea out early this time).

For those that haven't sailed at the Train before. It is an excellent flat water venue for blasting back and forth. It is also an excellent venue for beginners. For the non sailing amongst us there are lots of facilities for the kids plus it has a great BBQ location overlooking the sandbank drag strip. Parking can be an issue so getting there a little early may be a good idea.

The Sponsors for the Gold Coast meet will be Severne Sails. www.severnesails.com/ The guys are fully behind the club offering their full support.

Planned for the meet is.....

The club GPS.
Forward loop clinic
Beginners lessons.
Trophy for the funniest beach roll.
and of course bbq.

Hopefully Justin, aka Haircut will be the man in the hot seat showing all how to do forward loops on the beach with our rigs. It should be a very funny and great way to learn the technique behind forward loops for flat water. I have organised a trophy to give to the person that causes the most laughter while we all giving it a go. Kudos to you haircut. All you can eat at the bbq as your name is now etched onto a plate.

Everyone is welcome so I hope to see you all there.

Travel plans.

Lake Cootharaba...I am currently planning a xmas holiday trip for a few days in January to Lake Cootharaba. The idea being to hold the club xmas party up there. Anyone that is keen please drop me an email so I can start to put together numbers and get an idea of accommodation.

The plan is to hire a house for a few days. Those that want to camp will hopefully be able to put up a tent in the yard. Otherwise the council camping grounds are always another option. I am trying to obtain a location across the road from the water. We will also hold the usual BBQ and giveaways as part of the meet.

Elliot Heads.. Patrick at Surfconnect has planned a trip to Elliot Heads, Bundaberg for September. Patrick both kites and windsurfs so a good time will be had by all. Check out http://www.****/windsurfsafaritrips.htm for details.

Future Trips... A couple of future trips that are being looked into at the moment are 2007 june/july holidays in Cairns plus a February trip to Bundaberg and Harvey Bay on a Wave sailing safari. Even though they are some time away. Anyone that would be keen to join in just let me know.

The idea with all of the trips away is that by travelling as a group we can take advantage of cheaper accommodation and transport costs and party on.

New Sponsors.

I would like to officially welcome onboard www.seabreeze.com.au/ as our new club sponsor. The website is invaluable to the Australian windsurfing community, the club regularly posts news on the Seabreeze forum and lots of the members chew the fat online regularly. The sites weather graphs details are excellent to let everyone plan their moves and allow people to join others on particular times at particular locations. The guys will also be providing some stuff for the club members packs.
Thanks Laurie for your support.

SuperX

Jesse, aka junior freestyle has begun construction of his very own SuperX jump. I will keep everyone informed but in the not to distant future we will all have the opportunity to break our much loved gear while trying to chop hop the jump. Cheers Jesse, some extra sausages for you on the bbq mate.

Club Website

I will be adding a calender section on the club website in the near future. If anyone would like to take advantage of this by posting trips etc. then drop me a line.

The Locations guide is still moving along. Lately i have added information of the Gold Coast area and will continue tidying it all up. If anyone wants to contribute it would be appreciated. It doesn't have to be about Brisbane, Sunshine or gold coasts. Anywhere in Qld is up for grabs. The great thing is we can all share the wealth.

Cheers Gestalt.

I think its best to stick with what was originally advertisted due to the club numbers, seems to me if its changed a week out people will stop going as its too variable and I like others probably have other plans for the sunday?? Just my 2cents. If its on on the Sat I will be there.

gestalt, that's because fish live underwater.

get yourself a floater!

rule of thumb for wavesailing QLD planing conditions, bodyweight + 10 litres board buoyancy.

sub planing conditions, bodyweight + 40 litres board buoyancy.

make the most of conditions with this simple formula!

whoops, sorry i sound like a preacher.

Will see you all Saturday.

Greenleader.

agreed, the floater is being designed at the moment. 72cm wide 235 long 130lt wave board. won't have it until xmas some time as the shaper is in brasil wave sailing. lucky him.

was going to call it the fat bastard.

preach away, green preacher. have sailed slalom for years because i don't fit the lightweight wavesailor build required to make the most of qld. now i'm fighting back!

the 95lt fish works well with such a wide tail for me. i used to have 2 boards to cover everything, the formula and the fish. but now it seems time to add another.

A clever man once told me that if you want to preach then do it in the 3rd person. ie pretend you are quoting a "clever man". Seems to work.

oh i will not be able to make it This is because the wave extravaganza is on the same wkend so i had to choose and the competative waves just appeal to me soo much. I will still try to get the jump down there for all to use. we will see have fun everyone.

with a bit of luck we might still get a seabreeze on weekend. We've had a few arvo seabreezes on goldcoast recently that were stronger than predicted.

fingies crossed

Cheers for all your effort with the Windwanderers Justin, I think you are onto a real winner. Imagine how good it will be when we see some good winds!

Looking forward to the next meet.

thanks guys.

well i got planing once, seems my forecast system may need some more work...

my friends in the black 4x4 saved the best for last. just as haircut and i were about to leave, the girls..(well i think they were) took the comodore into the park and fixed themelves up some circle work.
all to the sound of sweet banjos.

it was quite impressive. chicks hanging out the windows yelling while they showed the boys their best donuts.

haircut reckons the techno they were playing was actually the soundtrack to the free your mind video.

one thing is for sure, they sure knew how to hold a bbq. the t-bones they had were 3 inch thick. i made a joke to the guy that he may need to use a gas torch to cook it. then realised he actually had 2 strapped to the back of his truck.

when we got there they had both bbq going so they moved over. the skipper of the crew offered to wash the hot plate. i thanked him. he then filled a crushed used vb can full of water and poured it all over the hot plate. i thanked him again and let it heat up for a while.....

you also missed XXXX man on the bike. when he rode past everyone asked why the place smelt like beer.

not really the normal crowd at the train.

the first 2 meets had so much wind. now that summer is on it's way things should become a little more reliable. even though the last 2 meets have had really light wind everyone has still had a great time. it is good to all get together regardless.
