Caloundra Meet Announced

It has been a while between drinks but the next WindWanderers meet can now be confirmed for "Saturday October 7th at Golden Beach Caloundra".

As usual the meet will commence at 1pm and be held at the BBQ's south of the light tower. Sunshine Coast Sailboards have recently come on board as a new sponsor and have helped to organise an action packed meet.

Planned for everyone's enjoyment we have arranged the following.

1. 2007 Starboard showcase day also including some Gaastra, Neil Pryde and AHD gear as well.
2. Gearswap
3. Giveaways
4. BBQ

Low tide will be around 2pm. This will provide the opportunity for those wanting waves to sail over to the Caloundra bar and sail with an incoming tide. For those hunting flat water Golden Beach of course is the venue of choice providing great runs along the legendary sandbars.

This meet will also see another change to the menu with hamburgers on offer rather than sausages. Of Course there will also be vego food included as well.

Hope to see everyone there!

check out the http://www.windwanderers.com/ for more details and also the Seabreeze Events Calender
www.seabreeze.com.au/Members/Events/Default.aspx . I will be posting all future meets on seabreeze's events calender so we can keep track. (cheers Laurie)

hi eggs,

there are a couple. here is a link http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/qld/sunshinecoast/caloundra/directory/caravan

although my pick would either be

dickies beach, cotton tree or mudjimba. cotton tree and mudjimba are further north prob another half hour.

dickies is also a good one. very close to ann street and neil st for wave sailing and only 10 mins from golden beach.

nicholas from the wanderers stayed at the cotton tree one one the weekend and said it was good.

cheers....

Ah Golden Beach. I have a soft spot for GB. That's where I first learned to sail - hiring from Paul and Cindys.

(!!!poetry warning!!!)

Golden Beach

Blue paper sky and chalk smudge clouds
Warm white sand sheoaked, dune grassed
Pylon beaconed beach
And cool translucent water

A morning breeze
An interruption of boats
A panic of gulls,
A pelican

White canvas of birded sandbanks extending
To Bribie - fishermaned horizon hiding watercolour island

And holidays – release relief, deep core joy n peace
Book to read, sunscreened, fishing rodded, shade seeked
Ice blocked, fish n chipped,
And mums n kids n barbies

But then in the afternoon the breeze kicks in.
And the other life begins.
A sailboard and an arvos gift of 18 knots of wind...

hey notwal, that's sooo spot on.

sailed there for years myself, back when you could sail through the middle sandbank and into the surf.

while reading your poem i could see it and smell it. that's awesome stuff.

Latest News..

The guys at WindWarrior http://www.windwarrior.com.au/ have been sponsors of the club from the beginning, offering loads of support and advice. So for the Caloundra meet they are going to help us even further by donating a short sleeve BlastShield as a give away. Same deal as always, just drop your name to me and the lucky winner will be drawn from a hat, or in this case a gecko helmet. Good luck to everyone in the draw.

Also, because WindWarrior are fully supportive of what the club stands for, they have put together another sponsorship offer catering specifically for the clubs members. They have offered a 30% reduction in cost on their short sleeve BlastShield range. Check out http://www.windwarrior.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4&Itemid=8 for the details. For all those interested in the 30% saving grab me on the beach or at the next meet or forward me an email and I will help you out.

More Giveaways...

Other outstanding news is from the guys at WindsurfingSales whom have also been involved with the club from the beginning. www.windsurfingsales.com.au/ They have sent us a Gun Sails Boom Bag as a give away. WindsurfingSales have provided numerous giveaways for the clubs members and the boom bag is another outstanding item they have provided. So for the meet after Caloundra some lucky member will be taking home a new boom bag.

Membership..

If everyone could print out the waiver and sign it before giving it to me at the next meet that would be great. Other than completing the red tape I use the names on the waivers to add into the hat for the giveaways.

As usual, everyone is welcome. If you are a possible new member and want to join the club, the new member forms can be found in the club website as well. Just click the Mission link on the main page and download the Pdf's.

Upcoming Meets..

The Caloundra meet promises to be an excellent day out as it seems at this stage there are going to be more than just the committed members turning up on the day. Sunshine Coast Sailboards have really put together a brilliant showcase including gear on the beach. Dieter has been involved in the windsurfing industry now for many years and was very happy to satisfy the members requests to showcase his 2007 gear.

hi haircut,

no worries, boy you got some driving in front of you. caloundra is a fair drive for the goldy crew at the best of times. 2.5 hrs in the car can test us all.

i hope to be able to head out again tomorrow. but i have domestic duties. if i can get it all done before early arvo i am keen.

thanks all for jumping right in again.

light winds were the outcome. seems whenever we have lightwind meets the youngsters have a ball learning the craft and us old blokes dip into our bag of One Design Freestyle tricks.

was great to catch up with everyone again.

also big thanks,

the guys at WindWarrior for the BlastShield giveaway and Dieter at Sunshine Coast Sailboards for supplying the BBQ and letting us all touch and feel the new 2007 Neil Pryde and Starboard gear as well as the give aways. Cheers also Jason for all the tips and advice about the gear and for setting it all up for us. I think i might ask Santa to stop by the shop at xmas

the review will be posted over the next day or two along with todays photos.

see you all at Redcliffe for the next meet.

Hey Gestalt,

I vote we exclude Backloop from the raffles in future. He is uncanny. Maybe he's a hypnotist or a magician, or something. Then again maybe its just karmic balance and he has such a miserable life that he has to win sometimes, while I on the other hand have used up all my good karma in my misspent youth. Hmm maybe I should do an Earl and make a list of all the karmic voodoo in my life and set about fixing it up.
On second thoughts don't exclude the poor bugger. That's just the sort of mean spiritedness that could finish me off karma wise.

by the way i am still up in caloundra and enjoy the 30 knots flying over the water with my new waveboard. jesterday was already unbelievable fun, but today is just awesome.
looking forward to tomorrow for another day in paradise.
Yes i am thankful for my good karma

New wave board! You mean one that you don't have to suck the air out of to hold the bottom on? I couldn't begrudge you that.

Just came back home. No wind today but thats allright. have to give my arms a rest.
Have been out at neill street on sunday enjoying the gentle waves in 20+ NE. did not trust that reef too much so i played around in the shore breake most of the time.
Monday flying up and down the channel first fully powered on my 4.4 till i flew straight through so i had to change to my next smaller sail 5.6. I felt those 35 knot gusts lifting me straight up.
Yesterday i went out the rivermouth playing in the waves, you were right, the current can be a bit trickey.
I really love caloundra, can imagine to live around there some time.
