Are there any decent modern windsurfing DVDs around? Nothing instructional, just a feast of conditions and technique that most/all of us can only dream of, all set to a good soundtrack…

I haven’t bought anything for a few years now and have never found anything as good as Robbie Naish’s RIP.

Scotty McKercher's new DVD / book Drive is pretty cool.

Got some great local footage of Esperance, Gnaraloo & Margs.

Yeah the footage of Esperance is great... unless you had a FV(KING broken foot so were sitting there watching everyone go off while they took vid and pics and even worse broke it on a day that was not as good as the vid day

Anyway seriously RIP is good but bit dated...

Polakow KA1111 About Time is better than RIP.
In no particular order:
Plug n Play / Spam equal
Accidental Tourist, just for the WA footage
West Oz Power (old but at least it is all the right tack )

FWD Hawaii didn't turn me on, too much rubbish and really not a lot of sailing compared to P&P or Spam. The freebie 4Play on the FWDHawaii DVD had a crap soundtrack.

I hope plug'n'play 2 is good as the first or even better. Some of the recent dvds have been a bit disapointing. Alot of it looks like it was filmed using a cheap handycam, and alot of tiresome meat'n'potatoes waveriding shot from the beach rather than aerial shots

Spam 2 started off great and then seemed to go downhill after the first couple of minutes

I agree with Mark about FWD Hawaii

Personally, even as cheesy as it may be at times, I reckon Dr Beats compilation DVD contains some of the most interesting wave & freestyle footage of the recent years and a poke into the sailors lives. Even the late 80's to mid 90's neil pryde promo videos like rigmerole have better quality wave video than the recent stuff

more footage taken from helicopters and jetskis I say!

grandfromage - glad to hear you like it. I'd heard a while back that it was one of the better ones. Will have to see it

Too much talking about rot. There is periods that are about 5 mins long with Josh Stone talking about how he does real estate now (wow) interspersed with one wave move each 20sec.

Then another minute straight of watching pissed blokes wander around a workshop and all that stuff.
A little bit is fine but I though FWD had too much "this is us and our place" and not enough 'watch me go of"

Rigmarole
20 minutes/1990) A Tiga/Neil Pryde flick.

Fast Forward
(25 minutes) Another one from Neil Pride. This one has pretty good action showing lots of jibes and other maneuvers with plenty of instructional commentary from a number of sailors. They're pushing their line of RAF slalom sails but there's quite a bit to learn for any beginner or intermediate.

Airborne
(27 minutes) A North Sails production with more Ian Boyd than you can shake a stick at. Complete with subliminal messages and Ian's own form of shredder rap. It'll show you all about chop hopping to looping and all tricks in between. His narrative instruction however sounds more like your mom trying to get you to take your first steps as a toddler.

And here we go again hijack sorry ( allah allah jihad kill president bomb airliner C4 kill americans)

What happened to the manufacturers videos like they used to do? Yes I know *board and some others did ones... but I mean 40min harcore footage on DVD for about $10 - $20. Not $60min plus bonuses (that take an hour of fiddling to find them all)

Everybody would buy it!!!

C'mon sail / board manufacturers are you listening? It is soooo much cheaper nowadays so why not...

Tried to get Wild Birds from onboard but they didn't have it, so ended up with Wild Tracks; F2 Team trip around WA. Not too sure what I think of it at the moment (DVD, not WA!), not my kind of music and still not the classic indulgent viewing experience I was hoping for, it may grow on me.
