I saw some of it on TV late last night - very retro - fluro wetsuits, huge bagged out pointy headed sails etc. - a great snapshop of an era gone by! Sort of like watching 'The endless summer'.
Although its nice to see sailboarding on TV , it would have given a lot of people the wrong impression of what our sport is about today though.
Still no small feat, even in todays world.

Haha, I watched a bit of it too, it was soooooooo old! Think it would have been from the mid 80's! It's a bit of a shame that something like that makes it to TV today when there are so many better windsurfing stories avaliable. It gave me a bit of a chuckle best late night TV i've seen in ages! (not that there achievment wasnt great in the 80's or now)

Yeh, those fluro wetties and hoods etc. Thought it was some B grade sci fi movie when I first flicked on to it as they were all just standing on the beach, then they started windsurfing.
Thought it was cool to see some of the retro gear and stoke.

That film was about Rick Burnup and two of his mates doing a lap around Tassie on original F2 lightning longboards in late eighties. Around Tasmania by Butterfly is the name of the film. He is an adventurer who has sailed (windsurfed)to PNG from Cape York, dives with sharks and a couple of years ago wrestled a crocodile to save his boy in NW WA
Allisons effort today reminded me of some truly gutsy windsurfers.
