Hey guys.. got a $198 + taxes flight to honolulu to start off an around the world trip so I thought I might as well have a sail while there if I can afford it. I read the other forums but can anyone answer these questions for me:

Would it be easy and cheaper to find a backpackers on maui when I get there as opposed to booking something on the net beforehand...
i.e. Can I stroll around parts of the island for half a day and find something for less than $40 a night accom.

How much is gear hire?

Is it cheaper to fly from Honolulu to maui or boat it?

From anyone who has had a windsurf in hawaii on a backpacking budget.. got any tips?
