The majority of my windsurfing mates are now focussing on other stuff like new born babies etc.

As such I sail by myself most of the time. Are there any other crew around the Applecross, Ardross, Mt Pleasant, Attadale areas in the same boat, looking for others to hit the river or beach with?

I reckon sailing with others improves your skills (and is safer in the ocean). The motivational aspects of getting a call from someone saying "...its on, lets go !" is also an added benefit.

I am 37 and have sailed for 8 years and would rate my skills as intermediate. I want to spend more time in the ocean and would be keen to get a crew going who could sail together and maybe improve their techniques.

Any takers?

Hey southwind,

For sure, we've got some crew that always hang out and sail together. Usually decided a week before during de-rig at the current spot We've got all skill levels from light beer drinkers through to full strength in between a sesh. Starting to use the private msg feature on www.westozwind.com.au to set up locations aswell. I keep stuffing up the registry on seabreeze so my screen name is different heremore than likely down woodies this weekend (7th-8th Feb `04) so come on down and say hi. Clue - our cars all have a similar sticker on them (no advertising right?)

come down to the river and talk to people. meet new people, then sail with them, be friendly and they will help you out and improve your sailing.

The river is gay chad, southwind wants the ocean

No laurie this is clint, My first attempt at registering I used a hotmail address and never got the registration details, my second attempt I put the wrong suffix on my home address and never got the details So now when I finally got it right my preffered username is apparently already registered (as per previous attempts). *shrugs*
Gets hard to think of them by the third one....

Dirty, stinking water that stains boards (more work to clean them ) No big jumps, lighter wind, more boat traffic.......

And the likes of crazies and woodies ARE near that area chad like 5 minutes further away....What am I doing wasting time here? I'm going sailing

Just wondering silvec ... saw the user name and thaught it looked a familiar format. Any one else from UWA?? ... i looked into the outdoor club at uni a bit but i dont think there is much to do with windsurfing at uni these days. Those around campus should get together and have a beer when semester starts!

hey tozza, yeah Im from UWA - I only started windsurfing at the start of this season, so I dont know how many other guys at uni get into it..

whats winter like for sailing? Im getting the impression that this years summer season is fizzling out, after the wind has been less and less consistent.

anyone get out much during the rest of the year?
if so where/what winds are good?

try gelimac and ten second, it will be white as white,

No big jumps, lighter wind, more boat traffic.......
Boat traffic means jumps, but you should learn to jump first.

Tozza, Tim my sail number is AUS 444, I have an orange boom, If you see me talk to me, keen to meet fellow UWA
Windsurfers.

What are you studying at uni chad? customer agrovation 1.1? You must be in your practical year now right?

I don't clean my gear for ten seconds let alone 10 minutes I just trade it in each season for new stuff. I so love jumping off a three foot wake in light wind when there's twice the swell and more consistant wind on the ocean. The river is great when you're learning but we need to spread our wings to improve and it sounds like that where southwind is at. He shows interest in sailing in the ocean more and I want to encourage that. So yeh if you want a crew to sail with each weekend - get in touch.

ciao.
